How many time did you need with the practice?

I started to really practice it about 2-3 days ago. I'm only saying in theory that I'll get it, but who knows.

Though I mess up on 7-1x A LOT, so I don't know why I want to do that one near the end...

Oi... I'm trying to get Impossible Boy right now...
...
My best run so far is 7-7x to 7-18x, screwed up on XOXO on the first floor. I estimate I'll have it by tomorrow, but damn is it going to be frustrating.

my supposed run order was unlike i did in the video. In my youtube video i was actually traing for the run and then i was just lucky enough to get the achievement  . my plan was to do 7,8,9, 19, 20 and then the other levels. Because you take about 40 seconds to do 7,8,9 and then it's not such a big problem to die @ level 19 if you do it next. So it is only 1 minute of your life gone if you fail. The other reason for the order were those small saws in 19 and 20, which simply kill you if you press you jump button 0,2 seconds too early or too late ^^

If you have some other problems with doing this run, let me know, may be i can give you a good advice. I actually think about writing a little guide (but right now i've got no time for it)about the safe way to complete each level.

I thought I was going to get Dead Boy first, but I ended up changing my plans. Thus, Needle Boy is mine!

Here's a chart for reference.
KEY:

Meat Boy = I got it!
= I got it, but it gave me some trouble.
= This is one I'm working on. Right Now.
= Maybe some day...
= What. Maybe in... say, a year?

                       Forest / Hospital / Factory / Hell / Rapture / The End / Cotton Alley
Light World:     Meat Boy     /     Meat Boy    /        /      /       /             /
 Dark World:          /         /         /     /       /            /

I decided to switch up my order since the way I planned it out was stupid to say the least.

Some combination of: 7, 8, 9, 1   ->   14 to 20   ->   13   ->   2 to 6   ->   10 to 12

And guess how close I was? I did this order up to Waiting Room and I... DIED.    There's no doubt in my mind that I can do it, but doing these levels over and over again is pissing me off. The way things are going right now, it's just trial and error.

Edit: I feel the need to express what I'm feeling right now. I went through the levels in some random order until I finally managed to bring them down to 2 last levels, Pink... and Waiting Room. And I died on Waiting Room. I have now exploded into an uncontrollable rage, the most I've ever felt in my life. Now I've pretty much lost the will to try and get it again, I need a break from this damn game.

i know that feeling, i sat like 2 weeks on girl boy ^^ luckily impossble boy took me only 4 days (played like 4hrs/day), and yes, i understand how ultra lucky it is. however i did all the other achievements before so the overall SMB training time for the last achievement is still very great.

the other good thing is, after a while, you have played the start levels of your order so often, that you can change the order, and do your current start level in the middle or even almost to the end of the run.

p.s. can you post allink to your profile? or just add me, steam id: eXti

How could Light World Forest possibly give you trouble? Wood Boy is even easier to get than The Guy!

*laughs maniacally*

Did I do that, did I REALLY just do that?!

I got scared from the achievement not popping up after about 15 seconds like it normally does. But now, I am at peace.

--Oh yeah, the level order:   1   ->   7 to 9   ->   13 to 20   ->   10 to 11   ->   2 to 4   ->   12   ->   6   ->   5

Do not attempt unless you are prepared to pull your hair out.

may be you should unlock all bonus characters first, they are often really great help or even allow you to use some kind of absolutely safe way to complete a level.

Demon Boy - Meat Boy Only - GET.

Keeping in line with what I've been doing in the past, I only used Meat Boy for this achievement.  I have previously been chunking up levels into 2 sections (halves, usually).  I really got a sense for how AWESOME ordering your levels was when I re-arranged this.

Here's a good general method for me:
1. Practice every level until you can do it 3 times in a row.
2. Do each level (in order, if you'd like) 10 times and record how many times you succeed.
3. Based on that, create an order
   A) Any levels you are uncomfortable with (regardless of score from part 2) goes first
   B) Levels which got a score of 5 successes or less, in order of number of deaths
   C) Any levels with 9-10 successes from part 2 go here.  Probably in the order they appear.

====

My Demon Boy Run

4-11X: Tight short hops required here.  I got really good at it, but I still put it first.

4-17X: I'm really bad at timing the jump through the first portal.  There's a good way to speed run this (get up to the top platform fast enough to run under the first fireball), but I found it too unreliable for a no death run.

4-18X: Good control of those Demon Maws is required.  I'm good at it, but I've experienced some weird, and random, platform clip-death, so I just lumped this here.

4-19X: I got good at this one too, but in a previous run I got to this as the second to last level and biffed it.  There are two ways to get this.  I run right (over all three blocks) and touch one of the next breaking block.  Jump over the mini demon maw coming from below and run to the left.  Create a two block hole as you do so.  As you repeat this again (two more times), land on the first available block as you wait for the next Demon Maw, if you time the escaping jump right, you force it to break in the lava (no mini Maws can get you :-D).  After the 4th dodged Maw, I jump in the pit.  Go to the right or left of bandage girl and let the 5th Maw break on the wall.  Win.  ***Second method.  Be really cool and break only one of the three elevator blocks as you run over it.  Dodge the first Maw and slip into that hole you made.  The Demon Maw Spawner can't "see" you anymore, so nothing comes.  Play your favorite elevator music as you wait.

4-20X: I'm just really bad at the first few jumps :-/.

4-1X: The first jump is OK... but in the bottom hallway you need to be running at full speed while jumping on the last available block to get over the lava.  I botch that sometimes.

4-2X: There's a jump you need to make to get back to the moving platform... jump too high and you hit a saw.  I'm bad at that one.

4-6X: Going up is difficult to me, so I skip it.  I do this by walking to the right of the platform you start on.  Move without hitting the run button and adjust until half of Meat Boy's left foot is off the platform.  Wait until just before the saws above you move... then QUICKLY flick the control stick (or arrow keys) right then left and do a wall jump.  You'll get up on the outside of the structure.  Perform two wall jumps and proceed to the left.  Time your journey through the saws and get the girl.

4-8X: The red/black two tone background makes it hard to time the fireball jumps, IMO.  Especially the double jumps you do near the top.  This is because the little meat pool you make is also black, obscuring the location of your hitbox.  Idk, it's somewhat annoying to me.

4-10X: I honestly put it in my priority list because it ruined the run just before it.  This level isn't that bad, just pay attention to your DI through those portals.

===

After those, the rest were incredibly easy :-D.

Zombie Boy, Girl Boy, and Impossible Boy remain.  Only Zombie Boy gives you character choice, so it's the last "woohoo, Meat Boy only!" achievement.

===

EDIT - I did an initial run through for Zombie Boy... Holy balls that's hard!  Some of the gravity orb navigation work for Meat Boy quite tough... bleh.

i just still advice you to use of the other characters. like you can see in my videos, naija and the kid are very helpful for making zombie boy. Even headcrab (if you play pc version) avoided the randmoness and buglyness of the "5-9x: Swine" level :P

@eXtide

The advice is good, but I like doing it this way to kind of 'set myself apart'.  Besides, I've already figured out a couple of the gravity orb consistency issues I've been having.

Though I'm sure it'd be nice if I actually recorded a video too... Alas, I don't have enough computer gusto to do that.  How did you record everything?  I've got Fraps, but I only have one hard drive (it's recommended that recording and gameplay are done on two separate hard drives to prevent lag).  For some reason, dropping the recorded frames to 30 (as opposed to 60) drops the actual game frame rate to 30 :-/.  Bleh.

If I figure it out, I'll go back and re-record Missile Boy and Demon Boy, Meat Boy only.
