1  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / My first level! on: May 05, 2011, 03:12:35 PM
After an hour and a half of work, I've completed my first level! It's called "Complex" and it was made with the Salt Factory tileset.

If you guys could play it and rate it, that would be great. :)
2  Super Meat Boy / Help! / Re: How the hell do cameras work? on: May 04, 2011, 11:48:12 PM
Another question for anyone that might read this - why do objects follow me when I move from left to right in some circumstances? I am not using Shift to scale them. For example, in the defeault room they give you when you first load the Editor, I'll drop to the bottom and place a saw, not using Shift to change it. Then, as I move from left to right the object moves also, fucking up the hitboxes (I checked with the semicolon hotkey) and it's relative location to the rest of the tiles / obstacles. How do I fix this?

Also, if I don't use a bounding box for the camera, how exactly do nodes work? Whenever I place one it just shifts the camera onto it and causes Meat Boy to forever spawn offscreen and die until I delete the node and recenter it on the spawn node. Are you supposed to connect the nodes, place them evenly, weave a node quilt, place them at random? I don't understand how they work.

I see. Thank you!

Another problem I've been encountering is that when I finally get a camera that follows Meat Boy, obstacles I place on any layer start moving around, which is problematic when I try to place lava pools that are partially hidden behind rock (the rock tiles on Layer 4 and the lava on Layer 5) Then when I walk away from the lava pools they shift and just appear to be floating in midair.

How do I work around this, because I feel it has something to do with the camera...

Okay, I've been fiddling with the camera nodes and bounding boxes to try and get them to work.

How do I create a level where the camera follows and remains centered on Meat Boy?

That's my main question, but if anyone could share some general tips on how best to utilize the camera that'd be great.
6  Super Meat Boy / Meat Helping / Blood Clot Boy or Maggot Boy? on: May 02, 2011, 07:32:14 PM
So I just finished Brimstone Boy earlier today (secret brag topic) and I was hoping to get some input on this great personal dilemma of mine: should I go for Blood Clot Boy or Maggot Boy next? I've ran through both and they seem equally difficult, so which do you guys think I should attempt? Also if you could suggest a path for the levels or maybe provide some tips and tricks that helped you get either of these achievements that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Good job telling him where the secret passage is, guys. The fact that the lasers turn off is not much help if you don't know where to go.

I took your advice MegaMew - I used Viridian, and after about 15 minutes I got the bandage. I've now got 100% on the Salt Factory, and I rode the success high and got my 100% on Hell as well. :D Now that just leaves the Rapture... on that note:

5-4x Alabaster

5-7x Downpour

5-8x Downer plus its bandage

5-10x Pulp Factory

Now I know about how the Kid can jump into the middle chute once the level starts, but... I don't have the kid yet. So how can you beat this level without doing the Kid trick?

5-14x Necrosis

5-16x Coil

5-18x Stain

All of the ones I left blank are the ones I basically just need some strategy assistance with - no amount of practice I put into them seems to scratch the surface. :c Character or path recommendations would be nice - thanks in advance!

Also, thanks for whoever told me the console command for ultralowdetail, the game runs much better now. :)
9  Super Meat Boy / Meat Helping / General Advice Thread on: March 03, 2011, 12:19:24 AM
Hello everyone, I just thought I'd try and get a general advice thread started here, I believe some of the less skilled players among us (myself included) could benefit from some advice. Searching through the backlog, there didn't seem to be anything like this... so it should be okay, correct?

I know a lot of the people here are already vets who have 100% the game and are on the Top 100 spots of the leaderboards... but I'm stuck on some parts and some help would be appreciated. Specifically...

3-19x "El Topo"

I have problems just getting past the first missile launcher. @_@ Even then, if I can get past the first one, the next one surely causes me to meet my demise. I don't want to imagine what getting that tempting bandage is like... and since I haven't even gotten there I must ask preemptively: how do you get up the elevator shaft with the saws? And what is the best character for getting the bandage? It's the only bandage I have remaining in World 3. :c

The bandage in 5-20 "Judgment"

I really don't get how I'm supposed to get this one without zombies molesting me. D: What character would you guys recommend (aside from the Kid or Viridian)

How do I activate ultralowdetail?

I've heard that this option was added recently, and since I play on a laptop this would be a great thing for me to have. Unfortunately, though my searches on here and the Steam Forums, the only thing I know is I have to use the Launch Options, but I don't know what I have to input. People always tell people to "Use the Launch Options" but never tell them what to put down there. Really helpful. >_>

Thanks in advance for the help.
