Shoosy is the bane of my virtual existence.

Oh yeah, also Code Geass' original series. I stopped the second series when it ran out of english dubs, I only watch things when I can hear what the people are speaking.
Not only are the translations spot 99% spot on

Unfortunately that's usually not the case. My biggest gripe with some of the larger North American publishers is the lack of time and effort they actually put into both subbing and dubbing. It's sad that "fansubbers" have a better comprehension of the Japanese language and can release a higher quality subbed product in a 24-hour timespan (from airing) than a large company can in months.

NA publishers also like to completely change the meaning to a lot of the jokes/puns to make them easier to understand simply because they are not witty enough to come up with an English translation of the original joke or pun.

I really can't place enough value on dubbed and subbed products by these publishers to actually purchase DVDs. If they actually did a better job, I likely would.

Eye lasers. For some reason, no other obstacle gave me nearly as much trouble as them =/

It's been on the front page for a while, if it's get big enough and starts randomly drifting off the 1st page I'll consider stickying that thread.

I started watching Neon Genesis Evangelion for the 8939023894038902903 time.

And its just as mentally intense.

It's a shame they are only releasing the movie-version adaptation every 2-3 years. 2.0 was released on 27.06.2009 and there's still no word on 3.0's release.
6  General Stuff / Video Games! / Re: Battlefield 3 Gameplay trailer! on: February 24, 2011, 07:01:42 PM
Battlefield 2142 had some fairly large maps, and although not as revered as BF2 I thought it was a good game for the setting it took place in. It's already confirmed the PC version will have a player cap of 64 whereas console will be 32, so I am hoping there will be some maps exclusive to PC that make use of it.

I dislike EA generally, but they do well in supporting BF games.

I really wanted more footage. I would rather have waited another month for a trailer twice as long than see this one now.

For the record. Loli Anime is sickening.

Just thought I would throw that out there. People talk about it on DFO alot.

Yeah... there was recently a ban on manga in Tokyo (and possibly all of Japan?) that depicts underage children. It's sort of sick how big of an uproar it caused amongst fans, that there are really that many people that use "artistic expression" as an excuse to look at drawn pictures of 10 year olds. Oh, but they aren't 10-year olds in the manga, they are "18 years old". Yeah... right...
9  General Stuff / General Discussion / Re: How do you feel about Valentine's Day? on: February 22, 2011, 07:49:52 AM
Of course, girls are crazy about it so if you're one of the lucky guys who has a girl, you have to empty your wallet by buying cheap heart shaped candies so they don't dump you.

Or a large bouquet of flowers and chocolate! My wallet hurts...

It's sad how correct that comic is in showing how otaku measure their power levels.

Created for the sole purpose of companies to make money or not... I love it. Gives me an excuse to be a romantic.
12  General Stuff / Video Games! / Re: Problems with TF2 on: February 21, 2011, 07:30:05 AM
TF2 is still as great as it was in launch, if not better.

I will have to wholeheartedly disagree. TF2, for me, was completely and utterly destroyed the instant random drops were implemented, and then even moreso with trading. Prior to these two new "features" I had played the game 800+ hours. Post-"features", only about 60 hours.

Every server went from objective--based team playing to "omg look at mai hat!, want to trade?". "trading paint!!!". Everyone idled, some within game and some with external programs, until they labelled everyone who idled using external apps as cheaters and split the community. Then they implemented a max amount of items you can find per week to a ridiculously low number, making those that idled previously in game have a huge advantage.

It's really sad to see such a great game go the way it did. One of Valve's only mistakes in my opinion. It sucks even more because TF2 is where I met my girlfriend over 2 years ago, and now the game leaves only a sour tastes in my mouth, not the shining example of an FPS it used to be.

The game as it stands now is ridiculous and I haven't played it in months.

I have an interest in anime/manga, but not to the extent the so called "otaku", or in North America, "weeaboos" do.

For manga, I read Naruto (stopped watching the anime after it diverged from the manga with filler), Claymore, Kimi no Iru Machi, Broken Blade, Freezing, and Sketchbook on a weekly/monthly basis (depends on release schedule).

As for anime, I pick a few up each season that pique my interest. Unfortunately, most anime is moe-blob crap like K-On with no real substance nowadays. This season I'm watching Fractale, Freezing (only because I read the anime), Infinite Stratos, Kore wa Zombie desu ka, Star Driver, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Even most of those are not that great, but they are time-fillers nonetheless.
14  General Stuff / Video Games! / Re: Valve on: February 18, 2011, 04:23:32 PM
Valve only makes FPS games

Alien Swarm and DotA2.

You named 2 games.  1 they gave away for free since they didn't think it was worth charging for and the other isn't out yet.  They still make FPS games with few exceptions.

One they gave away to both award those who use Steam, as well as draw in potential new users of the service, and the other will be epic upon release.

Putting aside the fact that their current lineup is mostly shooters, Valve is the only "monopoly" which I do not mind. Awesome sales, auto-updating, and ease of purchasing games. My Steam account already has $1000+ worth of software, and I will continue to add to it.

Other digital distribution platforms, such as Games for Windows Live, are laughable at best in comparison. Hell, even Duke Nukem Forever (which I pre-ordered the retail Balls of Steel Edition of) will use Steamworks, so i can add my serial key and activate it on Steam in case I ever lose my disc. Ahhhh yeahhhhhhhh.
15  General Stuff / Video Games! / Re: Portal/Portal 2 on: February 18, 2011, 04:18:17 PM
The pre-order bonus on Steam for Portal 2 is absolutely absurd.

A free copy of Portal? You know, the game I already have which is why I'm buying Portal 2? You know, the game you gave away for FREE for a whole week when you launched the Mac version?

At least give us a pre-order bonus equal to what you get from EB Games or Gamestop... /sigh...
