Wow, something quite strange just happened. I was screwing around after seeing a video that shows you can use the Kid's double jump to make the 1-block high saw jumps easier, and I ended up going from 5-5X (Nix) through 5-13X (Halo of Flies) without dying. I wasn't even being serious, I was just messing around and beat almost half the levels in one go. Holy hell. One day, Zombie Boy. I'm comin' for ya. *shakes fist*

You know what would be awesome? If someone got Zombie Boy using every character in the game. It's the hardest achievement where you can use "Meat Boy & Friends", and there are legitimate uses for characters like Flywrench, Runman, Commander Video, and even Josef. Only problem is there are two characters I can't see a single use for: Headcrab and Ogmo.

Sure, you could cheat and use Viridian to break half the levels, but where's the challenge in that?

I hope you're not serious. Even with Viridian I still consider Demon Boy to be harder than Missile Boy. The difficulty of the breakable levels is made up for in the unbreakable levels.

Fuck Demon Boy, just fuck it. Chapter 4 dark world makes me rage so much so quickly it's ridiculous. I have about 5x less patience with the BS in these levels than I did with Missile Boy. At least with Missile Boy I didn't have to spend 10 minutes just trying to beat GOD DAMN IMPERIAL before having the privilege to be killed on one of the demon maw levels. And to top it off, if there wasn't enough stupid crap in these levels, there's the random dying on a platform or glitchy hit detection. My PC runs this game perfectly fine before anyone asks.

Right now I'm seriously considering just skipping Demon Boy completely, trying Zombie Boy, finding out that it's way out of my league, then quitting on the iron boy runs for good.

Started practicing through the levels for Demon Boy and it feels like 80% of the difficulty is saturated in around 5 to 7 levels. I mean honestly, how can you look at Starless and say "Yeah, that's a fair level."? Demon maws spitting out like a machine gun, it's ridiculous. The fact that it's silhouetted makes it even worse because if I try to use Runman I often mistake him for a mini-maw. Also, Old Scratch, Thistle and Imperial can piss off.

I feel like for me this is going to be harder than Missile Boy because of my lack of drive to get it done. I hate the world, I hate the enemies, and I hate the music (I'm sure to catch hell for that, no pun intended).

After 6+ grueling hours of failure,  Missile Boy is FINALLY mine. Holy balls, that was brutal. The stages took turns kicking my ass, and even after I could do the harder levels in my sleep, I kept dying on the easier ones. So I ended up putting the easier ones first and some of the harder ones last. Kind of funny how that works out.

It's a shame the actual achievement got mostly cut off in the video.

I spent FIVE hours running meatboy-only Demon Boy last night. After dying annoying deaths for what seemed like forever, I had an awesome run where I got it down to only two levels remaining (4-1x and 4-2x).

I COMPLETELY CHOKED! On 4-1x I should have just dropped down between the first set of saws like I had practiced many, many times, and instead I freaked out and jumped. Right into the moving saw. I HAD IT! That level is a freebie!!

After that I had to put the game down because it was already midnight and I had to be at work by 7. The most frustrating part is that now SMB is all I can think about. I KNOW that I'm capable of completing the run, but I'm stuck at work. I have to wait here in agony until I can get home and finish it!

I hate it when stuff like that happens. I had the exact same thing happen to me on Exploder (second to last level, after that was The Salt Man). Nothing more depressing than going back to the drawing board after dying on a level you thought would be easy.

Probably not. I wish they would bring over Spelunky instead of Alien Hominid.

If the extra content is sold seperately, or an upgrade option for the Steam version is available, I might consider it.

They said Alien was the only one not under the exclusivity contract.  No clue why, but thems the facts.

I wonder if it might be possible to get around that by creating new characters (or using existing ones) that have the same game mechanics as the XBox characters, kind of like Headcrab and Goo Ball (yes, I know they're not exactly the same as Gish).

Sunshine Island. It's a refreshing change from all the other warp zones. Plus, just look at that title card.

The Kid's stage is fitting considering the source material, and accurate enough, but in my opinion The Guy 2 is just a really bad level.

Full agreement on that.

Get Missile Boy.

Anyone have an opinion on what the next "easiest" choice would be between Maggot Boy, Missile Boy, or Demon Boy?

Definitely Maggot Boy. Don't let the fact that it's the Rapture intimidate you. A lot of the light world levels are very tame in comparison to their dark world counterparts. It will be much easier once you get a solid strategy/route down and put the problem levels first.

I honestly had more problems with Dr. Fetus Boy than Maggot Boy.

Here are some tips that might help:

Quote
Route: 9-10, 15-20, 1-8, 11-14.

Grinding Mill - I used Captain Viridian and found a neat little bug with the zombie AI. So of course you reverse at the start and wait for the key to drop, then move across the key shaft to the right zombie spawn. Then, if you jump to the right, the zombies will never jump into you (they'll jump, but it'll be once you're falling down). Lead them into the saw, reverse and get the key, reverse again so you're on the ceiling of the platform Bandage Girl is on, then you can do a jump to the opposite wall and 2 walljumps to victory.

Rotgut can of course be broken with Naija. For The Witness, I used Viridian again. From the first alcove you can jump through the saws easily, then the rest is just reversing between saws.

These next 3 levels use The Kid's "run off the platform and double jump" trick. On Rise, once you get up to that ledge below the first repeller, run off the ledge, then do a delayed double jump. This will let you get to the left wall easily. On 10 Horns, you can do the same trick on the last part, and on King Carrion you can reach the right wall from the start.

(dreading doing Hellavator again though haha)

Use Flywrench for that level and once you figure out a strategy with him, it'll be easy (currently attempting Missile Boy myself).

Josef has a superjump that lets him jump extremely high (more than half the vertical height of 1-17).  If you tap a wall, you can do it again immediately.

This is still outclassed by Naija or Viridian in most levels, but it is pretty versatile.

I can never get this to work consistently. Is there a trick to it or do you just have to be really fast at double-tapping the jump button?
