stop saving over the original file, have 2 copies of a level and alternate between them when saving (Making sure it saved correctly after each save).

Maybe try and record a video of this bug happening if possible with Fraps or similar.

What the hell are you talking about?
Anything available at the time of the games release, is what we're entitled to as I quoted. Yet there was a beta period where leaderboards did not accept times and levels could not be A+'d. There was no way to avoid this for Steam users as the game is automatically updated and thus the developers removed a feature we were entitled to.

It has of course since been rectified but it was annoying having the beta forced upon us all.

Ryoko hasn't been banned, the OP is most likely an imposter. I'll have to verify this with him in the IRC though.
Ryoko deleted his account.

Until then, here's something you should all keep in mind.

You did not pay for the Level Editor. You did not pay for Super Meat World.
You paid for Super Meat Boy as it was since release (After the first week of bugfixes of course). The game was complete when you bought it and at no point in time (After the first week) was it ever incomplete.
Super Meat World and the Level Editor were completely free additions*.

Let me break that down:

  • Completely Free
  • Additions

All you're entitled to from your purchase of Super Meat Boy was everything you've already had since release. Anything else is an extra bonus that didn't have to be made in the first place.
So we were entitled to functioning leaderboards which you forcibly removed from the Steam version for a period of time with a forced beta? Unless you warned us in advance so we could tell the game to not update and give people who bought the game during the beta, the ability to download the version before the beta you intentionally voided something we were entitled to.

Your missing Alien Hominid D: I got it unlocked even though I don't have Ultra Edition :3
5  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: 03 May - Big update! Rating + Uploads + Music + Editor Tool on: May 06, 2011, 04:39:04 AM
I noticed hey introduced a 1 second delay when re-trying a level/moving onto the next level. I reported this in the Technical section and it later vanished from the forum. What is the point in the technical section if not for bug reporting or in this case, technical support?

Also no progress saving makes the game incredibly dull to play. Yay you get to progress the story every 20 levels.

Edit: Also still tons of bogus leader board times.

Complain to Direct2Drive and request a refund as your clearly not getting the right amount of support that is provided for the game.

Maybe add a PROGRESS BAR while downloading levels instead of a spinning saw? You know, a bar that increases in length as progress in downloading the data is made? A feature introduced back in Windows 3?

I'm waiting for completion times to be saved again and for this beta process that is forced upon users with several features removed (Like the leader board saving) to end forever or be made optional.

So what did the update released today, do?
It adds 5 new levels without Bandage Girl, but with few numbers!

Mouse courser works now :)

Just an fyi, if you try using devmode just now while it's disabled it loads up the normal game with the mouse pointer visible.
Yes, and you expect everyone to be using devmode by default all the time?
13  Super Meat Boy / Level Editing / Re: Super Meat World announcement! (shhhhhh) on: April 06, 2011, 10:38:07 AM
The lack of a mouse courser led us to believe that the keyboard/gamepad was to be used, no thought was given to the mouse. When we heard the mouse was to be used we were shocked to the very core of our souls.

- You have to use the mousepad to go to the levels, instead the keyboard and gamepad that doesnt work for that.
So... Any plans on adding keyboard/gamepad support to Super Meat World?

The first time I went to this new chapter, I thought the update was broken, because I couldn't do anything. Arrows, space, enter... nothing worked, so I pressed Esc and went back to normal levels. And I thought: "Well, this must have been a rushed update for this #PotatoFoolsDay thing, and doesn't even work. Must be a bug, gonna report that later."

I even recorded a video before figuring out the mouse was required.
Yeah gamepad/keyboard support would be nice not just because it's annoying to switch to the mouse for this one particular part of the program, but because you have to switch BACK to actually play the game. You're constantly switching back and forth which is very annoying!

Well instead of calling it Beta, call it "Experimental" or "New & Upcoming" or something and "played 100 times by at least 50 different people" was just a random attempt at a reasonable number, helps ensure players/authors receive/provide appropriate information about the levels like how good they are, if anything is tedious or ridiculous or impossible etc. so that the authors can fix up/adjust there levels before it enters mainstream.

Also if it was made compulsory that new levels pass through this system then this IS where people would go to to play bleeding edge new content.

Keep in mind the game has sold 10's of thousands of copies or maybe even 100's of thousands of copies, that's a massive player base and 100 plays is pretty small requirement for such a large pool of players.
