Since it looks like this is "new video day", I guess I'll have to make a contribution too:

Not all of these are especially interesting, but there are some gems in there.

How on earth do you get 16 seconds on crawl space? anyone got a speed run video of that level?

Meat Ninja, end of story.

Sorry don't have a video of it :/ i think i have the replay but i wouldnt have something to record it with anyway D:

Crawl Space (2-14X) isn't a Meat Ninja level--you just use Naija or a double jumper to go up the central tube without unlocking the fan.

Amazing stuff--as always.

I can't decide whether my favorite is the 4-14 or the 4-15X.  There's just too much here to like.

I am a golden god! God, anyone else really feeling it after getting the achivement?

I got the kid, skyscraper, Captain Viridian, Mr.Minecraft, Squirrel boy and Saltboy during the same day. I was extremely impressed with that. At that time I still had most of cotton alley darkworlds remaining.

Now I only have 4 Cotton Alley Dark Worlds remaining

7-9x
7-14x
7-15x
7-19x

Any tips on those?

For 7-19x, you might want to play the game in windowed mode (just use the toggle on the options menu)--the PC version tends to slow down the rate at which the blocks disappear, making the level almost impossible to complete.  Based on the leaderboards for the level I'd guess that most players are having this problem.

Also, the top tier is easier if you walk, not run.

Good luck!  Meat Boy

I tried something similar a while back--seeing how far I could get in the game without using the special button (and only using characters I could unlock without running).  I managed to beat all of the first three chapters (light and dark) before getting stopped by the Brownie boss stage.

Jill turned out to be very useful--her walk speed is much higher than Meat Boy's.

...what happened?!

Your warp zone times reverted.  Use the stats program- http://supermeatboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,596.0.html -if you want to know your actual time.

Here's a new Naija compilation video you might like:

7.Gish plays the same as Gooball,am I correct?(Headcrab jumps more accuretly)

Gish is faster than either Gooball or Headcrab.  The basic jump mechanics are the same between Gooball and Gish, but Gish's speed makes him easier to control.

Thanks for all the help!   Meat Boy Meat Boy Meat Boy

Here's my first attempt--It's poorly edited  , and I think I used a file size larger than I should have  , and I didn't even try to change the music  , and I put the game on -ultralowdetail to stop Fraps from killing my framerate  --but the runs themselves are pretty good (I think there's at least a few Steam world records in there).

I'll work on getting better.

I've got a bunch of replays I'd like to upload, but I have zero experience with video recording/editing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Meat Boy
11  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Ranking on the global leaderboard on: February 18, 2011, 08:29:13 AM
I'm rank 1200 and something.
Maybe 309 to 310 will make a big difference in ranking.

Every level uncompleted is worth 1000 seconds of leaderboard time.

I broke 200 today on the PC leaderboards, but my damn warp zone times reset again and I'm back up to 300ish. I really hope they fix them in the next update.

Yeah, they really need to take warp zone out of consideration for leaderboard times.  It's more frustrating than anything.

I don't care whether they leave it in or out--so long as it's consistent among all players.

The whole system is messed up anyways; I tried adding up all my times once and got a number about 80 seconds lower than my "all warp zones completed" time (~300 seconds lower then my no warp zone time).

6-3X has the highest par time (70 sec)--it's the only level with a par time above a minute.  You can speed-run it in the low 30s, however.

7-20X has the longest speed-run, but it's par time is only 60 seconds.

Just to clarify, Gish and Goo Ball are the same, but Head Crabs jump works a little differently.

Its a common misconception.  If you have both versions try out 1-3 with each of the characters--Goo Ball can't make the jump; Headcrab makes it barely; Gish makes it easily.

I'm not a big fan of Alien Hominid. He's not bad, but he can't really break levels or get bandaids more easily like some of the others can. He's not that special over Meat Boy, is what I'm saying. The only thing I found is that he can do levels with fans that go up slightly faster, and that he has a funny glitch if you spam the R button while he's dying.

Pre-update Alien Hominid had a glitch that easily made him the best level breaker on XBLA.  Post-update, the glitch is gone, but he's still extremely useful.  If you spam the trigger buttons as you jump (I use both triggers and stagger the presses), you can get him to go up about twice as high as Meat Boy.

Pink Knight and Josef have a glitch that makes them useful as well.  If you press jump twice in a row really fast, they'll shoot way up into the air.  I find it hard to do consistently, but it's good for some levels.

I narrowed down my vote to Headcrab or Goo Ball--they're vastly inferior versions of Gish.  Gish is nearly as fast as Meat Boy with a jump that's close to being the same as well.  After playing with Gish, Headcrab and Goo Ball make me feel like I'm using Tofu Boy.  Headcrab is the worse of the two (albeit slightly).
15  Super Meat Boy / Meat Helping / Re: Leaderboard on: February 11, 2011, 07:58:27 PM
Warp zones do count--but with some major caveats.

Each non-character warp zone lowers your total time by 15 seconds, and speed-running the Commander Video and Flywrench warp zones can lower your time by ~7 seconds combined--for a grand total of about 230 seconds.

On XBLA, the bonus time won't get subtracted from your total until you've improved a time on a normal level (after running the warp zones).  On Steam, the time gets subtracted immediately.

However, the bonuses don't last.  Once you restart the game, the bonuses disappear after you improve another level--meaning that to keep your time low, you have to redo all the warp zones every time you play.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with them unless you're not planning to play the game for a while and want your time to be as low as possible while you're away. (This is what I'm doing on XBLA while I play the Steam version).

It didn't always work this way on XBLA.  Before the update came out three weeks ago, the bonus time didn't disappear when you restarted the game.  If your previous time was ~3000 seconds (and you haven't played since the update), you can probably expect it to jump up by about 230 seconds (possibly more if you have any 0 times--the update corrects those), and rerunning the warp zones will just get you down to where you used to be.

On the other hand, the update also allows you to reach 310 levels completed, so you can expect your leaderboard position to improve, regardless of whether it adds on time.

Hope this helps.  Meat Boy
