Super Meat Boy / Suggestions / Re: what would make SMB even more awesome

Maybe the high score ghosts, but there is no helping people in Meat Boy. It'd have to be a head-to-head run of the level, with scoring based on who wins first, who dies least, both, or different modes for each. Maybe you'd also both have to be Meat Boy and your opponent appears as Brownie.

Super Meat Boy / Suggestions / Re: Dr.Fetus as a character?

Dr. Fetus should have different "Styles". One is identical to Meat Boy and may even slop soemthing (darkness or fetus juice) wherever he goes, one could copy Air Brakes with his cape, one could missle launch himself like Alien Hominid or Spelunky...or maybe Fetus could just be blatantly OP and have all of these and The Kid's second Jump.
Actually, I think it'd be best with just two Dr. Fetuses: Standard and Full Power. Standard is a Meat Boy reskin and unlocked by beating the game, while Full Power would have every unfair advantage possible besides actually being invincible and extremely difficult unlock conditions (maybe Golden God), since by the time you've unlocked him, you have nothing to unfairly gain with him. One or both of them might also require a code. I'm figuring that if any new characters are implmented, it'd be after the rankings are altered to show which character was used for the best run... But then who appears at the end of the level to abduct Bandage Girl?

Alas, poor Potato Boy, we barely knew ye. Here's hoping that one day he, Tofu Boy, and Brownie become unlockable by keyboard codes and subsequently placed in the main character select menu when you scroll vertically when hovering on Meat Boy. Perhaps along with the retro Meat Boys.

Oh, and the scores should be only the sum of your times, not strange formulas to make the number big...
Beat 0 levels, have highest score on leaderboard. Sounds great to me. It's hard to place on a leaderboard without actually playing the level for it. You shouldn't even be allowed on area leaderboards without completing all of the levels in the area.

Super Meat Boy / Suggestions / Re: Why no Dark World Boss?

Now that we have Super Meat World, just make it possible to use bosses in Stage Editor. I guarantee you harder versions of boss levels will be out within the month. Sadly, CHAD is the only boss I have had trouble with (I can't justify that). Brownie is just a running level and he can pretty much be entirely ignored, (unless you somehow die if he beats you in the race?), Little Horn is just memorization, and I fought Larries legitimately. I still have to fight Dr. Fetus, though.
Ideally, there would be a Lil' Slugger with a simply harder horizontal course and perhaps a need to jump on Dr. Fetus at points, a CHAD level with some sawblades to evade and droplets of meat being splashed up, a Brownie you can bump into and actually jump off of, a Little Horn who attacks more randomly/specifically at you, but gives cues so you can still dodge, and Larries who can team attack.
I still say we need Lil' Slugger shooting missiles while chasing you through Kid Zone 1 while Larry throws maggots at you and is like lololol u mad boy? Larry would ram into the spikes from one jump and the walls would block Slugger's missles. Also, neither would have anywhere to stand. So it'd be Kid World 1. Now CHAD in Kid world 1 would be mean. Little Horn in the background of Kid World 1. Dodge his attacks or die. Or, better yet, what about C.H.A.D in Kid 2? Watch out for the advancing wall of blood as you zoom through the spike shafts! HORIZONTAL C.H.A.D.! Where is your Golden God now!? Man, now I really want to see bosses in level editor. You could probably totally reimagine their fight scenes with some creativity. Brownie could be programmed to initially copy the creator's Meat Boy run, and if the challenger is doing better, after 3-5 attempts, Brownie would start copying them.

(Sorry for double post, but my previous post had glitches with the reply area) 5: Warp Zone/Glitch Zone/Boss times: This would apply to character specific zones and normal zones. I have been messing with them, and some of them do affect leaderboard times by 5-15 seconds, but wondered: Why not just have times saved normally. It would work by having 3 counters, one for each level, and at the end, all the times would be added for the total. It would show the three individual times and the final one on the map screen. Same for glitch zones and boss areas, as some of them are also speed-runnable.
6: Separate leaderboard times for each character: It wouldn't be hard to add, so why not? It would add increased challenge, as some levels are incredibly hard for certain characters, like captain viridian or ogmo.
7: Super meat world player screen: A screen that shows statistics for suepr meat world. It would allow for bandages in SMW, as there could be counters for the bandages, organizing them depending on the levels difficulty, then there would eb a point to have bandages in SMW levels for extra challenge. Plus this tab would show deaths, levels beaten, world beaten etc. Lastly, it would have a tab for favorited levels and worlds, which would allow for quick access to certain worlds or levels that the player liked a lot.
Warp Zone times would conflict with the three lives, kind of hurrying everyone in contrast to the need to be careful, and Boss times wouldn't work because the most you can make them vary with skill is maybe a second (unless each boss was remodelled to have a Bandage Girl at the end place and not let you go offscreen fatally). I've added a nod to giving each character their own division in leaderboards. Keep in mind that Super Meat World is brand new, so it's probably nothing we need to worry about. Unlike Valve, Team Meat isn't going to just chuck something in and forget about it.

It's true that just about any controller can unlock Brownie (at least, I haven't heard of any failing to), but so far, nobody has found a way to use him with the keyboard. You would think that it'd just be a matter of transferring the 3xbuttonA, 3xbuttonB, buttonC pattern, but I haven't cracked it if it's there...

Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: no cloud save storage is fail for a game like this.

Whats the cloud save feature again? Is that when you try to play when you are offline? I'm still confused by it.
Cloud saving basically means that your files are saved and accessed remotely. In Team Fortress 2, even if someone's computer is fried or they get a new one, they'll still be able to access all of their items and stats. With Meat Boy, all completed levels would still be completed and all unlocked characters would still be unlocked no matter what.

Multiple save files? That way i can compete against my little brother XD
Ghost bandages would let you do that. Just have him try to beat your best time for a level and get the bandage. Or your lowest death count, with that survival run counter.

Not yet. I just can't get a good grip on level 1. Level 2 is just elevators and level 3 is no harder than all of the other sadistic crap in I Wanna Be The Guy, so if I can just beat 1, he's mine.

14 total. Made it to Rapture (completed Light and Dark Worlds), then my harddrive was destroyed and I borrowed a friend's to catch up from. He was partway through Rapture, but no Dark World work. 2 levels of The End finished now.

Eh, they're really like big levels - you don't really get anything out of the warp zones without finishing them with the bandages regardless. They're a bonus challenge, with some slightly different rules. But really, read: http://supermeatboy.com/16/Extra_credit_/#bSkyscraper is the only Warp Zone that's REALLY hard, regardless. But that's mostly because it actually has long levels - most of the warp levels are really short. Perhaps the challenge of a Warp Zone is warranted, but I still abhor being dragged through mundane parts over and over again, especially with the slap in the face of having gained nothing. Even if the three lives rule is maintained, it would be much more tolerable if the player started on the first level he reached which has a bandage to acquire. In some Warp Zones, this wouldn't change anything unless the whole thing is beaten after getting the level 1 bandage, but not the other one, while in others, this would just stop wasting everyone's time with the first level. This would be even better if compounded with not being ejected from the zone whenever you fail and having to reload it. Even simple streamlining would make it seem much less arduous.
