Idea #4: Being able to show your fastest time on a level as a "ghost" (you know a bit transparent" so you could have more fun beating you time. Then you could maybe also send the ghost replay to a friend so he could try battle it, so it would be like a race.

Agreed with this one. Also check this thread: http://supermeatboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,1452.0.html, which basically covers the same thing.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen the ghost suggestion elsewhere too. I'd like to believe this would give a lot of added value to the game.

Would also love online saving. Everything should be on the cloud!

Well thank god for options menus then .

Beeping was just an example. A better idea would be to intensify the music. Like in the light-world/dark-world transition. Same music, more intense, so you know you need to hurry up.

-I have no problem with the 3-lives in the Warpzone, but I hate to have go back from the main screen and have to see that freaking animation again. This just ruins the flow of the game. If the player lose his three lives, just kick him back to Level 1.

Oh god yes! Please! I also don't care about the 3-live limit, it makes it more challenging, but it's soooo annoying having to sit through the animation each time. Takes like 10 seconds, and has no added value. I think of the 20 hours I've put into this game, I've sat through at least 30 minutes of waiting to restart warp zones for no real reason.

My suggestions (i.e. stuff that bugged me):

  • When I finish a level, I want to see what time I got right away without having to sit through the entire replay.
  • During gameplay, please show the time needed to get A+ near the current time. Perhaps even a beeping sound when you're running out of time, so I don't waste my time trying to finish the level anyway.
5  Super Meat Boy / Suggestions / Trackmania-ish style multiplayery, but not really on: April 12, 2011, 11:19:51 AM
Come on! Do it!

I'm currently playing this game together with my roommate (we both bought it separately after it was priced off on steam), and love it, but it sucks that we can't play it together somehow.

So I've been reading a couple of suggestion posts on multiplayer, and a lot of "fans" seem to defend super meat boy that it would be worse off with multiplayer. I don't necessarily see why, especially not if it's built on top of the current game.

My favorite idea would be to have some kind of ghost of your opponents best time replay each time you die.

It wouldn't even be that hard to implement. Just send your fastest replay to each client when you achieved a new record while playing the game. Every time your opponent dies, you start again together with that fastest replay of him.

So no waiting, easy to implement, and fun because you're constantly trying to best eachother. It's not even real multiplayer, cause you only send replays to eachother. You don't even have to stream anything. Your local client plays the fastest replay as soon as you restart the level.

By the way, this should also work for single player. See the ghost of your best time while playing.

Also, why not give the possibility to see ghosts of people (while playing a level) with similar scores of you in the rankings? I'm sure it would reveal a lot of cheaters. (I've noticed a lot of people finished levels in 0.0 seconds, which seems odd).

Toodles!
