Display name: sh00takai

I can upload individual levels, but opening the chapter upload form always results in a sudden crash.

I loved the "cliche" level!  Meat Boy  Also congratz on getting featured!

Thanks, that's nice to hear.

No chance of somebody else doing another 7 if you've lost motivation and filling it up as a collaboration? I know Rock Lee had an excellent Metroid level.

If it wasn't for possible copyright issues (though parodies are protected...) and not filling a full chapter, i'd say put those suckers up on Teh Internets!

Heyy, long time no see/hear.

It would be great to get a full chapter at least to SMW. Meat Boy I lack the time and motivation to finish the last seven levels, so yeah, any help would be highly appreciated. Publishing Nesoteria as a collaboration would be totally acceptable, but there's one thing. The levels from others would have to pass my judgement.

I have no active plans on that though. I'm pleased with the current outcome and if no-one suggests anything special, I'll upload the semi-long chapter some time soon to SMW.

Btw, thank you very much again for all the ideas and criticism during the WIP stage. It really forced me to make the levels playable and more accessible to everyone.

Hi everyone.

I'll try to keep making levels every now and then, but going for full chapters is something I can't really concentrate on at the moment. I'll add some random levels / mini chapters to this thread whenever they are uploaded to SMW. The word is free, use it if you want.

---

01
Level name: A cliché
Description: Nothing special here, this was mainly a test level for the Gameboy tileset.

02
Level name: Tin foil
Description: A quick challenge created with 4 bit tileset.

03
Level name: Fit loin
Description: Tin foil reversed. Another quick challenge.

04
Level name: Psyborg
Description: A level made with hell tileset. Some teleports, keys and hell maws.

Yeah... Since the creation of chapters isn't working, I might as well list the names of individual levels that can be found from SMW. I'll make a 13-level-long chapter from them once it's possible.

Just for clarification, I ran out of time and motivation regarding serious level editing so I thought it would be best to just push the chapter out. I'll continue making some random levels whenever I can and upload them to SMW from time to time. Don't hate!

The original WIP thread is here: http://supermeatboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,531.0.html

Levels:

01 Hindenburg
02 Haxanadu
03 I AM ERROR.
04 Kaczynski
05 LARP
06 Narcissist
07 Egotist
08 Bubble Wrap
09 Cheetah Boy
10 Master-D
11 Pot Roast Boy
12 Frostbite
13 U Rad

Note that the camera in Frostbite is out of bounds for some reason. I guess that the save function didn't work and I assumed I was uploading a fixed level. MEH.

Yeah. Those damn genital levels on nightmare difficulty must be intentional...
7  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / Re: A custom chapter: Nesoteria [WIP] on: May 10, 2011, 09:55:27 AM
A pretty enormous bump over there. Meat Boy

I'll get back to the chapter at some point. I have a bit too much on my hands at the moment.
8  Super Meat Boy / Level Editing / Re: Super Meat World announcement! (shhhhhh) on: April 04, 2011, 10:18:11 PM
For some reason super meat world isn't showing up for me, i've tried verifying and reinstalling.

Have you collected 25 bandages in the main game? As far as I remember that is the required amount to open SMW.
9  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / Re: [In progress] Starlight / 4 levels on: March 24, 2011, 09:59:29 PM
Haven't played these yet, but they look amazing. It seems that hell tileset can become very beautiful with a little effort.
10  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / Re: [Complete!] Jumper Returns! / 40 levels on: March 24, 2011, 09:57:25 PM
Whoa! That's weird! It (obviously) worked for me at first, but now I load it and see that it does indeed drop.

Heh, it's the magic of devmode. You can never be 100% sure if things work like they should after the final save.

Finally, chapter 6 video is up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JyyM_XSoSk

It was pretty painful to record this one because of the constant lag issues but I think it became a pretty smooth run in the end.

In my case, completing chapter 6 felt really good, very similar to unlocking the Kid for the first time.

Note that you should fix 6-6, the key in the last room doesn't have any way points and drops in the lava pit. I became very confused when I first got there and didn't see a key for the last door anywhere.

Okay, it's sent. Thanks!

Why only the first 20 levels, btw? Are the later levels too difficult?

Maybe they can be added later..? I'm glad the first three are going to be added though! All of these chapters are incredible in my opinion.

Chapter 6 looks... I'll start it tonight and hopefully beat it sometime soon so you get a video walkthrough for all chapters.

EDIT: I fking hate Vista... Recording these videos needs some luck. If Vista decides to update itself despite Windows update and everything related to it is disabled, I can only wait until it's over. It seems that during these updates / downloads / hidden installs I can't keep SMB at 60fps no matter what. Meh!

Is it possible for the lights to remain on the PC version of the update or are you removing them for all versions?

I understood that the maximum amount of light sources has been reduced to 4 in the editor. So, only the extra light sources need to be removed from levels that have more than four of them in order to upload them to SMW. Don't know about the XBOX version though.

Here's a video about chapter 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrvMPuTkUmc

The difficulty in chapter 5 was well balanced. The maps looked initially very hard when I studied the screenshots, but it seems that the grinded skills from chapter 4 carried over and made things a bit easier in practice. I think 5-4 and 5-6 were a lot easier than the rest. I wouldn't want any changes in 5-6 as it's a great level, but 5-4 could use some kind of a hazard in the middle corridor before reaching bandage girl. Also, the last drop after getting the key is very easy.

Can't wait to see the complete map of chapter 6.

I just completed chapter 4. Here's the playthrough video (note that I needed to remove some of the light sources to prevent lag): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKwsQ1cHxVk

I liked this chapter most so far. The difficulty curve feels excellent and I can clearly see that I've become much more skilled with Ogmo after these first chapters. The levels have become very hard lately but they have remained balanced and fair. Whenever Ogmo dies, I feel it's because of my lack of skill, not because of your unfair design. Good stuff. I wonder what's waiting for me in the next chapter.

Btw, I also uploaded a new run about chapter 1 because the first video included too many deaths and was a bit boring to watch. Anyone who's interested, see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6jonF9HW5w
