1  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / Re: [chapter] Brownie Goes To Hell on: May 12, 2011, 08:42:30 PM
I liked these levels. I found them pretty hard, but they're well-designed.

Updated with some more pictures, I'll have the other levels sometime tomorrow.
3  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / Re: Ogmosis [Ogmo Chapter] on: May 11, 2011, 05:28:16 PM
I tried playing it. I really like the ideas you got, but I feel like they're just too long. I'm a bit biased because I've never liked how Ogmo plays but if you make these levels too long it starts getting very frustrating. IMO, levels should never be longer than 30 seconds, 60 in extreme cases.

That said I liked the House level.

A lot of these levels are from when I was first playing around with the editor and it's pretty obvious in a few cases. In particular I've been considering redoing Red Abyss and Cerulean Hell, the first two stages out of this I made, and reuploading the chapter. What would you guys think of that?

I've encountered a glitch where sometimes after deleting objects in my levels, the area they were in still kills your character and there's no way to delete them. While with stuff like saw launchers and missile launchers this isn't problematic, with normal saws or spikes it is. I don't think this is just me either, I've noticed it in a few levels I've played.

When it happens to me I've been able to just cover it up with blocks to mask the invisible saw, but this can potentially ruin levels with a lot of work done on them.
6  General Stuff / Video Games! / Re: Killing Floor on: May 11, 2011, 12:16:49 AM
Killing Floor. Oh where do I begin.

I never play it because I'm always horribly underlevelled compared to my friends and feel like dead weight since I can't be a level 6 pro.

But, at the same time, I'm horribly underlevelled because I never play. So it's a self-fulfilling circle of "I never play Killing Floor even though I like it a lot"
7  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / My Own Clone! (Bandage Girl chapter) on: May 10, 2011, 06:35:11 PM
Hi! Over the last couple of days I've been putting together some Bandage Girl levels for a chapter. I wouldn't rate it Cotton Alley levels of hard just 'cause Bandage Girl's in it, so don't be too afraid.

A note about the bandages, I've never actually been able to make it out of the level alive with any of them, but it should be possible. They're more like extra "CAN YOU DO IT" challenges.

THE LEVELS:

1. Red Abyss
2. Blue Moon
3. Green Sun
4. Purple Nurple
5. Orange Shaft
6. Teal Grass
7. Hot Pink Pursuit
8. Perilwinkle
9. Beige Blitz
10. Mauvelous
11. Khaki Chaos
12. Feldgrau Fury
13. White Valley
14. Vitellary Void
15. 219-160-219
16. Timberwolf
17. Indigo Path
18. Lime Time
19. Cerulean Hell
20. Pallet Town

Comments, questions, criticism etc. appreciated!

Yeah. It took me several hours to do the first stage, so I left my computer on overnight after beating it, woke up a few hours later and finished the last two. Oh god it was hard. But worth it.

TF2 Replays are really neat, guys. I am pretty happy with most of the ones I've put up! I wanna see yours if you have any!

are you going to implement something to prevent people from uploading duplicates of chapters or levels?

we have no way to do it, but we will be adding a recommended page that will load 1st when you click levels that only shows chapters that have been featured. that should clean things up a bit for people just looking to play good levels.

If we can't delete our levels once they're up, a choice to at least remove them from the list we get when selecting to create a chapter would be appreciated. Is that possible?

This is minor, but it'd be nice to see some confirmation that your chapter uploads in the editor. I accidentally tossed mine up twice, and looking at the other entries I see I'm not the only one.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I don't know if I missed it or not but I didn't notice the old Super Meat World/Internets theme anywhere in the editor's music selection thing for chapters. It'd be a shame if that's gone for good.

EDIT AGAIN: Also, in levels where Bandage Girl is the character, you still rescue Bandage Girl and not Meat Boy. Don't even know if that's something you can fix but I'll toss it in there anyway.

Only thing I woulda changed is that the camera follows Tofu Boy instead of being fixed over the whole level. (that and the tofu boy problems with uploading)

I uploaded a level made for Tofu Boy, but he turned into Meat Boy with Bandage Girl on his back. THE CHALLENGE, IT'S RUINED. I noticed ages ago that Tofu Boy became Meat Boy with Bandage Girl in replays but I never thought it'd come back to bite me!!!

i noticed this, its on the list for fixes :)

Awesome. Props for the editor, it's won me over now that I know what the hell I'm doing with it.

I don't think it would, Tofu Boy worked fine in the editor. But I'd warn against making Tofu Boy levels at the moment. I would guess it has something to do with how characters are assigned in the coding or something, due to how it happens in replays too.
15  Super Meat Boy / Level Editing / Re: What makes a good level (and artificial difficulty) on: May 03, 2011, 10:34:54 PM
There's a certain fun/difficulty factor. When I was doing my first stage it was pretty obvious when I needed to tweak something if I felt like I was dying because of the level and not because of my own inexpertise. It was a Tofu Boy level so I put in a few extra tiles to ensure there were no BULLSHIT deaths, to compensate for the weird way he walljumps, but made sure that actual challenges weren't watered down.
