turnout was pretty good.  the meat relay was interesting.  I kind of wish the game had some more easy worlds though because world 1 light/dark and world 2 light is really all you can run with people having their first meat experience.  even then it got too tough and we had 1 dropout.  but overall it worked pretty well.  we just rotated after 5 deaths or beating a level.

other games we ran.  gears 2, project gotham 3 and 4, bionic commando, splinter cell double agent, left 4 dead 2.

there is a thin line between bravery and stupidity and that's where I tend to tread.

I've been pretty lucky so far, not even a spilled beer in the past few parties.

my meatboy idea for the party is a team relay.  I'll split everyone into two groups and try to balance it a bit, have the game on 2 tvs next to eachother, then we'll race through a world.  if you die 5 times or beat a level you have to pass the controller.

Probably a long shot since this isn't a huge forum but I'm throwing a game party this weekend.  figured I'd check if any SMB players were near me and wanted to come out.  we can definitely play some SMB along with a ton of other stuff.  I have 10 xbox 360s on 10 tvs.  also have 10 arcade games, wii, ps3.  2 MK9 fightsticks, foosball, classics, you name it.  PM me for details if you want to come out.

I just ask that you and anyone you bring is over 21 as there will be beer.

Meat.

Think about that for a moment.

But he isn't Meat. He's a boy with no skin

Edmund has said that but he has also said meat boy is a boy made of meat elsewhere, so we don't have a definitive answer.  not that it or this matters anyway.  play the game.  push the buttons.

I'm in the club.  i got it yesterday but thought it was interesting that I didn't even have the kid unlocked and still got it.  so today I finished everything.  glitch worlds, A+ on all levels, everything in the main game.  I saved the kid for last and it was not that bad, took maybe an hour to beat the 3 levels.

the guy in the original video was taking shots of something that was 15% alcohol, and probably was not taking full shots every time.  a shot is about an ounce, so you could do this with beer and it could still be interesting.  12 shots of beer = 1 full beer.

I just prefer people to be upfront about what they are really doing and this guy flat out said he took 36 shots of cuervo so I have to call him out on that.

if you kept down 36 shots of cuervo you are a serious alcoholic.  lets say you are 200 pounds and you drank that much over 3 hours

BAC % = 0.681

this guide I found does not even go that far.  so I have to call shens.

.30%    Stupor - Likely to pass out involuntarily (as opposed to lower BAC's where you may decide to stop drinking and go to sleep); if pass out, may be difficult for others to wake you; possible to die from alcohol poisoning or choking on vomit at this level and higher
.35%    Equivalent to general anesthesia, breathing may stop.
.40%    Coma likely, breathing and heartbeat slowed to dangerous levels due to slowdown in nerve activity.

yes I love arcade controls, have 10 arcade games in my house and I started playing super meat boy on my xbox 360 arcade cabinet that has two sf4 TE fightstick tops for the controls.  I learned to play using the stupid default configuration, button 3 to run, button 1 to jump.  it was awkward, there should be an option to switch the buttons.  anyway my brother likes the game but insisted on playing it with run button 1 and jump button 2, like mario.  I have a super mario arcade cabinet and play that, so the run b1, jump b2 config is something we have been using for a while.  So i actually opened up 2 more fightsticks and rewired the buttons so I have run b1, jump b2 and after a few hours playing like that I really like that configuration best.

As for playing super meat boy on an arcade stick it is a million times more fun to me than using a pad.  you can be really precise with tapping/holding run to adjust in the air, and I find I am way more accurate with a joystick than using the thumb stick or cross pad on the x360 controller.  you can easily do things with run you could never do with a trigger button, plus I just always preferred arcade controls for games.  the fact that this game works so well with arcade controls is probably the main reason I play it so much.  I highly recommend it and if you are an old school platform player I'd suggest rewiring it to run b1, jump b2 also, but jump b1, run b3 is manageable.

So has anybody had any prolonged experience playing this with a fight stick?  I might borrow my roommates' SFIV TE (Madcatz modded w/ Sanwa buttons/stick) fight stick and try it out.  I just didn't know if I should even bother.  On the 360 of course, but I'd be willing to look into ways to use it on PC...

Edit:  Just tried the SFIV TE R2 Fight Stick out for Meat Boy and...it's AWESOME!!!  After about an hour in Hell/Rapture/The End I think this is my preferred way of playing SMB now.  Everything just feels a lot tighter and engaging.  I love it, and I'd recommend it to everyone here to try!

i actually like playing it over and over.  i have played through most of the main worlds on multiple xboxes and started a steam game.  I don't really care about finishing everything.  I just like playing the game.
