1  General Stuff / General Discussion / Re: How do you feel about Valentine's Day? on: February 21, 2011, 07:53:08 PM
I like it because of the chalk candies. I need to go get some, now

Really? I didn't think anybody actually liked those things.

I have a real problem with valentines day, simply from a logical standpoint. It's seen as this wonderfully romantic day when, in reality, us guys are simply forced into it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy being romantic, but valentines day makes that impossible. Nothing can be sincere if your socially obligated to do it.
2  General Stuff / General Discussion / Re: Homosexuality on: February 20, 2011, 10:34:44 PM
I have read the Bible from cover to cover. I was also a altar boy in my youth, so not only have attended church, but actually participated regularly in services.

I can say on all authority, the Bible would be a complete and utter dick. A lying, misogynistic, homophobic, spiteful, irrational, violently murderous dick.

The ratio of hate to love is about 5:1, and not a single one of its positive teachings are unique to it, but virtues practiced long before it, and by billions of none believers regardless. A lot of its hate however is unique to it, and practiced mainly by its readers.

No need to get so angry. It is great that you have read the Bible, but the person I was responding to openly admitted that he had never even read a single page of it. Then in the next breath he proceeded to make judgments about it. If you have read it you are free to form whatever opinions of it you wish. He has not read it, thus he has no ground to form opinions of it. That is ignorance.

And "it is not what it teaches" is a ludicrous statement. It either is what it teaches, or it is nothing - no two ways about it.

Stop being an apologist/denialist. Either embrace the Bible for what it is, or complete that leap of logic and attack it for the bullshit it pushes - don't embrace it while excusing it. If you can't emotionally make that leap and connect the dots for whatever reason, don't come in here and try to pretend you're participating intelligently in a debate.

You took my statement out of context. When I said "that is not what it teaches", the "that" I was referring to was this statement.

I thought that all you had to do to please your god or holy icon was to have good intentions and be kind to others.

Since the Bible does not tell us that this is all one must do to please God, then I was correct in saying "that is not what it teaches". I am not making any apologies or denials on what it does teach. I support it completely, including the parts that you consider "lying, misogynistic, homophobic, spiteful, irrational, and violently murderous".

You insult my beliefs and my intelligence, but I have not insulted you once. Nor will I. As to whether or not I am contributing intelligently to the conversation, that can be better decided by 3rd parties.

People don't really like to admit it, but if the bible was a person he'd probably be a total dick.

True, and hilarious.

And you would know, how?

I have not spent a day in church or read a page of the bible in my life.
4  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Expert Remix Chapter on: February 19, 2011, 09:10:22 PM
Before you go to sleep, these stages are available for all characters to play through or are some of them locked for certain characters (ie Kid 1)?
Just an update on this question if anyone is still curious:

Team Meat's Twitter seems to be insinuating that both the Expert Remix chapter and Cramps (the fanmade chapter) are Meat Boy only. I hope this clarifies any confusion that anyone may have.

The Kid 1 is going to have to be completely redesigned in order for Meatboy to complete it. This is slightly disappointing.
5  Super Meat Boy / Meat Helping / Re: Question about The Kid on: February 19, 2011, 09:08:07 PM
. Why would they make an update just for a little animation?
My guess is that it will come along with a bigger update.

. When will it come out?
Nobody knows. I doubt even the developers know.

. Will it be on Xbox?
Don't see why not.

. I just got an update today, what did that do?
Xbox update? Cause I didn't get one, but I play on PC.

. Will I have to re-unlock The Kid for the cape to appear?
99.99% chance that you will not have to re-unlock him.

I ask too many questions, but please answer all of them.

I (sorta) answered them all. What did I win?

I understand what you mean. Homophobes are either extremely ignorant or just plain intolerant.
I think that this is caused by people reflecting their parents or elders views. Also, people are afraid of difference. And I'm also going to go into religion here, my family is Christian, but to be honest I have not spent a day in church or read a page of the bible in my life. And I don't know why the bible would say that homosexuality is bad, I thought that all you had to do to please your god or holy icon was to have good intentions and be kind to others (not just that, but you get what I'm saying)?

The reason you think that is probably because you have never read the Bible. If you would read it you would see that is not what it teaches.
7  Super Meat Boy / Level Showcase / Re: A custom chapter inspired by NES games [WIP] on: February 17, 2011, 12:14:32 PM
Hey, people. I need your opinions. The first two levels in the pack look very stripped and cold and I'm strongly leaning towards replacing them with completely different levels. I think they served as good test levels, but they are not worth including into the finalized chapter unless completely remade. The Kid Icarus stage is too limited and the part from Duck Tales is not exactly memorable and is very hard to notice for it's different colors and extra textures.

So, I initially thought to replace them with levels from Ice Climber and Faxanadu, but you're free to suggest better ones. I'd love to have at least Faxanadu in the mix!

EDIT: Ghosts 'n Goblins suggested by McJones also feels like a very good choice.

The Kid Icarus stage is great. Maybe it could be extended just a bit, but I wouldn't replace it if I were you. Your right about the Duck Tales stage tho, it's not the most immediately recognizable.

I would love to see a Ghosts & Goblins level. That has always been one of my favorite NES games. Either way, this is looking amazing so far. Keep up the good work!
9  Super Meat Boy / Suggestions / Re: Dr.Fetus as a character? on: February 16, 2011, 08:38:42 PM
I would love to see Dr. Fetus as a playable character, but not anything like how you described him. I don't think we need any more characters that have leaderboards locked.
10  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Choose max 3 characters you plan to make chapters for on: February 15, 2011, 07:30:13 PM
Meat Ninja (who is absent from the poll).

Yeah, you should really add Meat Ninja to the poll. I'm hoping to see a lot of Meat Ninja chapters, because in the main game there is no real reason to use him.

I'm actually hoping to make chapters for all the characters, but my main 3 would be The Kid, Captain V and Commander Video.
11  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Worst Character? on: February 14, 2011, 11:21:15 AM
gooball. he's like super meat boy, but slower, and with no special powers

You know if you hold the sprint button he sticks to walls/ceilings, right? Either way he isn't particularly useful in many situations.

I would say Pink knight, but since I've never played the 360 version I'll have to stick to what I know. Josef seems like the least useful on the PC, so sadly I have to vote for him.

And why on earth would anyone vote for The Kid, Runman, or Naija? They are incredibly useful in most levels.
12  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Hardest level in the game? on: February 11, 2011, 11:27:37 PM
Expert Remix Chapter: The Kid 1

I know its not out yet, but I can guarentee that its going to be like getting kicked in the balls over and over again by someone wearing spike tipped boots while someone else is standing behind you slamming your head on a concrete slab over and over again all the while insulting your mother.  Also you're naked, its cold, and everyone you've ever known is watching you and laughing.

Yeah, its gonna be that hard

And we're going to love every minute of it.
13  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Naija Speedruns on: February 10, 2011, 10:40:25 PM
Very impressive. I'm going to enjoy competing with your times as soon as I get to Hell/Rapture. I just started competitively speed running levels, so I'm still in the Hospital atm.

Btw, some of those questionable times might be legit. Occasionally the leaderboards will show Meatboy as the character used when he really wasn't. It's happened to me a few times before on a time that would be impossible with Meatboy.
14  General Stuff / General Discussion / Re: Religion on: February 10, 2011, 10:29:29 PM
...and people think this a book full of morality and inspiration because? If it wasn't for the fact the book threatens you with eternal torture if you don't endorse it, even a child would reject it as grossly unethical.

Yes, I was aware the cities didn't perish exclusively due to homosexuality, but that is one of the major reasons, which is how Sodomy became a byword for anal sex, due to Sodom.

What a psychotic sadist god is - he creates us broken, then demands upon pain of eternal torture to change. Lovely chap.

This is all independent of the accuracy of the bible, of which there is none, but i'm also stressing the morality is horrific too.

I could explain how it's not Gods fault that we are broken, or how there is plenty of evidence, both historic and scientific, to support the accuracy of the Bible, but It's pretty clear that you don't really want to discuss it. And frankly, I'd rather not stir up any more contention on this forum than I have already. So I think I'll leave this thread be.

Good question. Seems like it would be impossible for anyone who can't double jump.
