yes im still playing and probably will still be playing this game on my death bed

Me too!

Just went over 500 hours in my SMB career (just counting 1 Steam acc, but I've also logged hundreds into the 360 version too).  So yeah, you could say I'm still playing, mostly optimizing my times in the main game on PC, and starting to focus on Teh Internets on 360.

Worked on the chapter some more last night... I'm actually back to designing levels again. I think a few of the ones I'd made a while ago aren't up to snuff compared to the level of quality I like to stand for, so I'm going to keep designing and decorating until I have a nice balance.

Just FYI, the theme for this chapter is a cross-pollination of metaphysical evil, hallucination, Armageddon, and sawblades.

You should totally make a "Eraserhead"-type chapter!  A chapter with almost no sounds, strange no-so-obvious solutions to solve rooms, lots of background ambient mechanical/industrial noises (hidden saw launchers/missiles/death maws/sounds of Zombie feet for noise but timed to create a sort of musical rhythm), using the Kid.

Sorry for rambling, just stopped to think if a chapter was inspired by Eraserhead or Begotten what it might look, sound and play like.  You do brilliant work Rock, so something like that from you would be great.

Apparently the level editor is out or will be releasing shortly.  If it's a lot better than the SMB editor I'll probably give it a shot.  Just a FYI if anybody here was waiting on the editor.

GFWL
No mod support
Locked 30 fps
720p only
No HD textures
Limited keyboard and mouse controls

Oh wow, they really DON'T WANT money from PC gamers. Can't wait to see how they blame poor sales because PC gamers are all pirates and entitled kids.

There will almost surely be user-made patches to circumvent the 720p/30fps lock.  But yeah this suck.

These levels looks amazing!  Really novel utilization's of the different mechanics and view choices too.  Can't wait to play it.

This is coming to PC in August, so I expect to see you all in the Steam version for co-op and PvP!

Games for Windows Loosers, not Steam.

I know, my bad.  I'm still annoyed their choosing GFWL instead of Steam.  But Darks Souls in 1080p at 60fps will be nice.

I tried 3-14x once, I was nearly able to get to the platform one cycle earlier, did you manage to do that, Jintek?
It was so close all the time.
Oh, no you didn't.
You got 13.15, I just tried a bit and got 13.13 =P

Good job, nice to know I can break my own score and record a IL!

Also, go try and beat my score on 3-15x, I've been trying to record myself beating it and I simply can't get past 8.62.  Maybe you or 73L would have better luck.
I got 13.05 btw. but somehow the upper platform accelerated me a bit, although it went in the opposite direction, I've got no clue if it was because of a lag or just a bug/luck.
If it wasn't a lag, I think a 12.9x time would be possible ^^
So go on and try ;)

Just saw Takuji's vid on how you could theoretically do 3-14x without waiting, will be trying soon.

Post your specs, especially the video card.  My initial recommendation would be to install the latest graphics drivers for your setup, but you've probably done this.  You could try uninstalling the graphics card drivers and reinstalling.

Nice job, you should really try to get some live recordings done. :P I'm all alone with these recordings right now.
From what I was able to figure, there's only 6 levels left with which we need a live recording for to finish the ILs! They are 3-14x, 3-16x, 6-5, 7-11x, 7-16, and 7-19x.

I tried a REALLY hard route on 3-16x for almost 3 hours straight and couldn't get it: Demonstration of my best attempt
The start wasn't done too well in this run, so you would be able to get a slightly better lead.

On 3-13, I made it a habit to press jump whenever I thought I was close to making it through. Never again did I run into the salt.

I guess I'll give the 3-16x run a shot on my main gaming rig so I can record, I'm usually using my laptop which for whatever reason lags badly with FRAPS even on -ultralow with this game.  I don't get that because it's a new i7/8GBRAM/560M...

But yeah 3-13, I guess I kept dying in the salt due to the fact I was literally never actively anticipating making the cut (would have gone crazy if I had), so whenever it did happen I was too slow to react.  But eventually I made it and the first time I actually walljumped off the little edge on the side of the salt pit which saved me.  Second time I just jumped clean over like a boss.  I must admit though, if I had died on the last saw cut both those times I would have just given up, it was that bad for me.

So do you think it's possible to make this cut and finish 3-13x?  I don't want to even imagine finally making the cut, and then dying later or making a dumb mistake and losing time.

Edit:  I think I hold the Meat Boy WR on 3-14x to my memory.  So I'll try to live record matching my time there, or beating it if possible.

Just a few of my notable optimizations today.  Been a while since I fired up the Steam version.

Figured I'd jump into this one, this was roughly my 2nd completion using this path.  Still have to improve it some.

Beat Exo here, fun level, have no idea how IANOU does this.  But that's the new time I'm aiming for.

New king of Hush, really like the fast dexterity back and forths of this route.

73L, that's for you!  Only was able to do this route twice (7.64 and 7.61) and I still can't beat your score.  So enjoy that WR, never again will I do this.  Took me about 2 hours off and on to beat this route twice, the cut is near impossible.

Also worked a bit on 5-13/5-13x, which I'll get around to hopefully soon.  Still need to match my times on 4-4/4-4x from 360...which sucks.

Edit:  And yes, I died horribly in the salt about 15-20 times.  Was pretty much the ratio, 500 deaths to one successful cut, which almost always ended in the salt.  I'm hesistant to even try this on 3-13x...

What about Skyscraper? Or Kid 2? :P

EDIT: just wanted to be on-topic ;)

True, but then again, who would ever try those again?

For me none of the Skyscraper levels by themselves are particularly difficult, just doing them first time for the bandages can be a test, early in your career.  But there's like one jump in the whole three level set that is "difficult" in a speedrun situation.

Kid 2 is another story entirely, but I'd opt for Kid 3 to be a more difficult perfect run.  The jumps over the saws seem to be more demanding skill-wise AND timing wise, as opposed to Kid 2 that's just timing based difficulty.  Even ignoring the three elevators isn't that hard if you're accustomed to the Kid's controls.
29  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Most Annoying Level to Speedrun on: April 02, 2012, 05:23:34 AM

Oh wow, I literally nailed the 5-13 route in 5-13x just a minute ago. (just finished uploading) ThoughI was holding run the entire time.

And that Hit Box thing is crazy-looking, I'd definitely want to at least try it out.

Haha, sweet I guess he was onto something.  I'm definitely going to try and nail this route too, from all of my practice on 5-13 this seems it would be easier than going the slower way and clearing the platform bandage girl sits on perfectly.
30  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Most Annoying Level to Speedrun on: April 02, 2012, 04:42:00 AM

Keyboard? Yep! I thought that was pretty apparent in my replays, judging by the symbols.

The main thing about 6-4x is at the end, at first you want to slightly hesitate and not jump.. or you'll want to wait for the saw to give you room to wall jump (like Kaede did), which is unnecessary since wall jumping off the only the right side is fine.

As far as new strats or requests, if you have anything you want me to try out, I'm all ears.

Yeah I noticed the symbols in your replys, just wasn't sure if you were using Joy2Key like I do when using my CCPro or Saturn USB pad, which will just show the keyboard symbols.

As for the possible new strat, my roommate apparently just did 5-13x the same route you would do 5-13.  Said you need to let off the run button right before touching the 2nd to last disappearing block so you can start the wall jumps further down, then just barely catch the last block before it disappears.

I'll see if he wants to upload the replay (he's running the Linux ver), but he also said there may have been a bit of lag so it may not be repeatable.  I don't know, if it is possible it's pretty borderline impossible.

Edit:  Since your really good with a keyboard, you should totally try out a Hitbox (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGU1d-cmtuQ) with this game.  Playing it with a arcade stick is pretty cool, but I'd think for a keyboard player this would be great.
