Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Most Annoying Level to Speedrun

And I agree on 6-4x, very annoying level to speedrun. But I nearly caught your score there, if only I hadn't slightly missed bandage girl at the end! After months of not even making an attempt to improve this level, I had to go back in and remind myself why I didn't like it. To my astonishment, 6-4x grants more leniency with passing/jumping over the saws than I had originally remembered. First improvement was only by .03, then I kept going until I got a time I was happy with; I started from 22.15 > 22.12 > 22.00 > 21.88 > 21.83 Had to deal with fraps giving me prolonged frame rate drops at times (and so many good runs were ruined because of this), but I got my final run captured, with a rather clean replay: http://youtu.be/FkViyqsCMZ0Damn, you beat Telesniper on 6-4x!!!! Awesome run. I actually used Kaede's template for 6-4x when I did this, so I'll attempt to give this method a try. My list is growing. :P Pretty awesome people are still finding new paths and optimizations for this, roommate may have just found a ridiculous new strat on 5-13x. Anyway, are you using a keyboard?

Very impressive sir, you are more skilled than I. Edit: I see where you did better now, your last wall jump was a few frames faster than mine. I'll need to rectify that. And I agree on 6-4x, very annoying level to speedrun. But I nearly caught your score there, if only I hadn't slightly missed bandage girl at the end!

Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Most Annoying Level to Speedrun

Since 90% of us left here and speedrunners thought I'd share some of my most annoying levels.
My top 7 would be (these pertain to Meat Boy in my situation)
1) 7-2x Flipside - Reason is that it's absolutely infuriating to make 10 perfect jumps and die, repeat that over 50 tries, then get to the top level and die again another 50 tries, only to die 50 more tries trying to get back there... Ugh, level sucks bad to speedrun.
2) 5-3x Spank - I really hate the somewhat inconsistent pulse physics, and this level in order to do properly you must execute them perfectly and get a bit lucky on top of that. I still haven't finished the optimal route I despise this so much.
3) 5-9x Swine - Random zombies, enough said, especially the two little bastards at the end.
4) 5-13 The Lamb - In order to get the optimal path, you must be perfect no questions asked.
5) 4-4 Hex - Ridiculous amount of practice and patience to hit below 7 secs, still stuck at a 6.81 score on 360. And dread doing it again and better on PC, same for the Dark World version.
6) 5-19x Magog - Hate this fucking level sometimes, another one I dread having to finish.
7) 4-7 Rickets - The optimal path is a huge pain in the balls requiring two pixel perfect jumps, one being a wall jump. Just did this on 360 today and it took me about a straight 45 mins of failure.
So what's your most annoying or hated level to speedun in this game?

Finally got my Judas run done, my trick was using the book effectively. Then tried to do a run with Maggie...this happened and it sucked. It was taking Brimstone that ended up getting me fucked.

Guess I just need to play more then, I've only completed with Isaac, Eve and Cain twice. Now it's time for Judas but that one heart is throwing me off. Any tips on using him early on, or is it just "try not to get hit at all"?

So I just did Basement Boy, which was pretty easy with enough practice and item luck. But WTF, I went through both Caves and when I beat the second boss it said I unlocked "Spelunker Boy" at the same time I unlocked "The Spelunker"...but I did take damage in the Caves. And then I died in the Depths 1. Has anybody else had a problem of achievements popping for no reason like that, is this some sort of bug? I could have swore I took damage in the Caves, do blue hearts count as "damage" when you lose them, because I had none left. Edit: FUCK! Nevermind, looks like I only unlocked Basement Boy in-game but it didn't register on Steam. Going back in... Edit 2: It unlocked the moment I started up the game. I think something screwy is going on with my game or Steam client... An hour later, this was a painful death...

Haha! Just broke the 2000 second barrier. It's still unofficial since I have about 8 more seconds to make up for my glitched times, but this be the first time without any warp zone shenanigans. :p Death Count: 271,961 Congrats 73L!!! SMB history has been made. It still boggles my mind they haven't fixed the warp zone stuff though. Team Meat should give you a complementary achievement or in-game "easter egg shout out" somehow, that would be awesome.

Sorry Jintek, I may have almost perfected it. I just achieved 1.34, the second dash was started before I even landed. Damn you! Good job though, it never even crossed my mind to start the dash before landing. Guess I need to get a bit more used to Runman and his potential.

Behold! The first level I beat 73L on using Runman. Talk about a spawn brute force, this run was pretty much 50% patience and 50% practice and muscle memory. Landing on that pixel spot with Runman was a real headache, I went from 1.97 to 1.71 to 1.53 to 1.41. So yeah, new Runman WR! Edit: On my map screen this score shows up as 1.42, so I have no idea why it shows as 1.41 on the LB...

So has anybody else here played this? Just started my 4th playthrough and it's pretty much all I've been playing for a while, lots of PvP too. Was my 2011 GOTY.

You can get the same effect if you press ALT before hitting a wall and let it go, warping meat boy through it. This glitch happened in a few Cotton Alley levels like White Noise and Waiting Room. There's no way to fix it though.
Seriously? I can't believe pressing alt does this. I never use the keyboard though so I guess that's why I had no idea. Seems pretty obvious to patch though, how long has this bug been in the game? Anyway, yeah the same thing has happened to me on 3 levels, so far one of which I was seriously trying to perfect my time on when it happened. Unfortunately there's no way to erase it either, unless Edmund specifically went into the LB to erase it I guess.
