46  Super Meat Boy / Tech Support / Re: [Linux] A huge branch of gameplay problems on: March 07, 2012, 12:50:02 PM
Good to know about these bugs beforehand, I'll be trying out the Linux version soon (Ubuntu Maverick).

On another note, I suppose the Linux version doesn't support leaderboards or achievements since it's a standalone, correct?

^I know that feel bro!  Always sucks to try so hard and not even break your own record.

I tried looking around myself for a standalone Linux version to buy, so unless it's included somehow in the Steam version...I don't know.  The only place it seemed to be available was the Humble Bundle 4, so maybe your best bet is to just download that from somewhere, since it doesn't seem like their selling it anyway...

New 3-13x run:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQwhymOEXC4  <-I've improved that a lot by getting a lucky wall slide on the way up to bandage girl. Meat Boy

5-16x Meat Boy WR:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXts9JPTXk8

5-14x Meat Boy WR:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTYhw-2NILI

It's sort of hard to know what is and isn't WR's with Meat Boy since there's cheated times above and below, but to my knowledge they are.

Still can't make the cut with Meat Boy 73L uses with Ogmo, almost made it once but died in the salt.   Meh, but improved my score nonetheless.  And I've got a huge hunk of a callous I pulled off my thumb for my effort...

Great runs Takuji!  This reminds me I need to get around to brushing up my Cotton Alley runs, I think the last time I messed around in world 7 was when I did 7-20/7-20x, which I also probably need to fine tune.

I really like your 7-4x, awesome wall slides.

Played this myself, absolutely loved the visual design and theme to the chapter.  I also liked the length for most and how they kind of surprise you while still being manageable difficulty-wise.  One of my favorites, had a blast going for the par times.

One of my many optimizations today, felt great to meet and exceed my 10.28 time on 360!  Feels good to be king on this level, for now.
54  Super Meat Boy / Suggestions / Re: Achievement "Boys" as playable characters? on: February 19, 2012, 11:35:36 PM
I'm thinking if this ever happened it would be a mod of some kind.  Kind of weird modders haven't even tried to do SMB, as popular as it is apparently.  I'd personally love a high res texture/char mod and a legit "managed" leaderboard mod where there's little to no glitched times.

May I ask why would Impossible Boy do so?

I don't know, I just thought it would be cool.  If any of the "boys" had a bit of control and or spawn improvement it should be Impossible.  After all, we worked hard enough to get him! :P  But he obviously shouldn't be included on LB's as a "meat boy score", he should be locked out of LB's or under a different icon.

or

He could just be the same as stock Meat Boy too.

Thinking about jumping on the gaming rig and starting to live record.  Any recommendations on good video editing software for this game?  Free or not, I'm all ears.
57  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: Super Meat World has been hacked... on: February 14, 2012, 02:09:03 AM
^Same.  I really liked Super Meat World for what it was, obviously lack of LB's and saves hurt it, but overall it was a great function to play and experience new levels.  I just hope it doesn't devolve into this being a reason to close Meat World entirely...

In retrospect I think while SMW was a great idea, what was lacking made it a idea that was not ideal for most of us.  For us, a portal like the XBLA version has with saves and LB's would have been ideal longterm, and sharing the user-created level through the forums here, or uploaded by Ed to the portal itself.

So while I respect and loved the experiment of SMW, in the end we would have been better served with a system like the XBLA version has.  But that's just me.

^Loved the compilation man, loved the music, and the crazy Naija/Runman speed (specifically your crazy Spank run w/ Runman o.O) so basically runs I'll never get! :P

I actually tried my hand at a Naija run on Billy Boy (in Hell), and ended up with a 6.30 or so.  Would have been faster if I hadn't taken an arrow to the knee approaching bandage girl. :(

But anyway, amazing compilation fun to watch and listen and even a bit to learn.

Edit:  Now I see how you got that time on 5-8x!  I'll try to beat or match that.

I wouldn't mind rocking Impossible or Demon Boy while I continue to fine tune my Meat Boy/Kid times.  So it's a great idea, but we're talking about Team Meat...so it 100% won't happen. :(

I also think their spawn times should be identical to stock Meat Boy, with the exception of Impossible who has tighter air control and spawns as fast as Potato Boy did.
60  Super Meat Boy / Meat Talk / Re: No-death achievements! Let's help each other to get them! on: February 10, 2012, 10:49:49 PM
That's not what I meant.
If you play with either with keyboard or with gamepad, you get used to it.
Of course you can't play that good with a keyboard if you only played with a gamepad before.
^^

I misunderstood then, sorry.  For me though I initially tried to get used to the keyboard when it first released on PC, and I think I got as far as Hell.  Then decided to switch to a wired 360 gamepad, and I was back to my platform skills.  I don't think I would have ever gotten this good without a controller, but a lot of that is that I'm just used to playing platformers on a pad, I'm a NES era guy.

That said I'm currently using the new MLG controller for SMB and it works great (got Impossible Boy using it), might beat the Saturn USB as my de-facto pad whenever the floating D-pad for it comes out.
