Super Meat Boy / Tech Support / Re: Configuring Humble Bundle version

Hey all. The buttonmap.cfg file for Mac OS X is inside the app bundle. Right click it and select "Show package contents..." Here's the actual URL for the file assuming you have the game in your main Applications folder: /Applications/SuperMeatBoy.app/Contents/MacOS/ Hit Command-Shift-G and paste that in. Then locate the buttonmap.cfg file and set it to always open with textedit. When I was messing with it, I actually just kept it in my Finder sidebar for easy access well getting things straightened out. Its limited. It only affects the buttons in the actual gameplay. Menus are still borked. For this reason I switched to a trusty keyboard mapper instead. As far as editing the command line options for the DRM free version on OS X see my original post below. First off, read this blog post for a better understanding of the command line parameters as well as how to change them in the Steam interface. Its actually pretty easy. What's not easy is figuring out how to do this with the DRM free version that doesn't use steam. Well, lucky for you I've got your answers. -Open Automator.app -Create a new application -In the first column select "Utilities" -In the second column double click "Run Shell Script" -Leave all settings default and fill out the text panel like this: -"nohup" prevents the game from quitting if you were to quit the launcher. -Also notice that I use a tilde (~) at the beginning of the file path, thats just because I have a user applications folder in my home directory (something everyone should do, but thats another story) if you have the game in your system level Applications folder, simply omit the tilde. -When you're all done, save the app as something descriptive of the settings and place wherever you like. -Profit

Works fine for me, however, I have launched it on Steam previously. Let me try and organize this.
Mac version: - Have played on Steam - DRM free version works - Noticed that it references the userdata in the version installed in steam. - Copied the userdata out of that version, pasted it into the app bundle for the DRM free version, "deleted the local content" for the steam version, game runs fine with all save data intact.
Windows version: - Do not have Steam Installed at all. - Launch game, shows controller, then black screen with gear spinning. - After waiting about five minutes there's an SQL error message and the game continues. - The same thing happens every time.
So, I think the problem is that the game tries to reference Steam somehow, when it shouldn't.
There are so many problems with this game, its really disheartening, and I'm really worried that the Mac port is finished as far as they're concerned.

Super Meat Boy / Tech Support / OS X - Changing the Command Line Parameters for the DRM free version of the game

Super Meat Boy / Tech Support / Re: OS X Update today - question about the controller config file

That's weird.
Are you trying to use the D-pad or the analog stick? If its the d-pad, maybe try setting analog to false *shrug*
As for me, I'm successfully controlling the game with a Wiimote. I use a small program called WiiJi to connect the remote to my laptop using bluetooth. Basically, this turns the Wii remote into a standard HID compliant joystick. Its perfect for gameplay. 1 is run and 2 is jump.
The reason I posted here is because I'd like to use other buttons on the controller to save replays, swap between light and dark worlds, and scroll the leader boards. With an HID controller plugged in, you get the 360 button prompts, but you're forced to use the keyboard. That's why I'd like to map all buttons.
There is the option to map my controller to keyboard buttons, but then I have to jump through hoops by connecting my controller after launching the game, to ensure that it doesn't register the joystick, and then I'm stuck with the keyboard button prompts, which are unreadable.

Super Meat Boy / Tech Support / OS X Update today - question about the controller config file
|
on: November 28, 2011, 07:20:49 PM

We got an update. Yay! Thanks guys. So now there is a controller config file in the 'install directory' as steam puts it. This is actually buried in the app bundle which is in turn, buried in your library folder. Like thus: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/super meat boy/SuperMeatBoy.app/Contents/MacOS/buttonmap.cfg So I open that and this is what I get: keyboard { up="up"; down="down"; left="left"; right="right"; jump="space"; special="shift"; }
gamepad { jump="1"; special="3"; useanalog="true"; } My question. How do I add extra entries for all of the other buttons that are used on a standard 360 pad? ie. - LT, RT, Y, B, etc To be more clear, I know I have to figure out the button number I wish to assign a command to, but what are the full list of commands called? In addition to jump and special.

Alrighty, set my settings to -ultralow, things are working swimmingly now aside from the easily avoidable crashes.
The rising salt looked odd during the level 3 boss, that's the only new thing I have to report.
Any of you chaps wanna add me as a steam friend? It'd be nice to have people actively playing on my leader board. Right now I have a couple game reviewers on there that never got past more than 20 levels, makes me sad. My steam name is the same as this one.
