If you had to just pick one, which tileset would you say is your favorite and why?

I'd personally have to go with Rapture. After making many levels in all the possibilities, I'd have to say I keep coming back to Rapture for it's diversity of hazards and mostly light colored tiles (which take color saturation well). Also the gradient on the default sky is very useful for making beautiful landscapes. Hospital comes in a close second.

On the opposite end, I hate working in Forest...

How about you guys?

My favourite tileset would be The Salt Factory, mainly because of how I like how cool it looks Meat Boy

I don't really have any tileset I dislike.

I have yet to use Dev Mode, so this is all speculative to me but...

Forest seems like something i'd avoid. It tends to get overused on some of the worst user-levels that are out there and lends itself to a real vanilla feel to designs.

8-Bit is great for the look, but the lack of creatures holds it back.

Rapture seems best for the same reasons you mentioned.

I'd be interested in using 4-Colour and 4-Bit, but I imagine both are very limited in terms of hazards, although 4-Bit seems tailor made for interesting and trippy filter work.

I can't wait to show you what I've done with Rapture in that vein. I've got a seriously psychedelic level in my upcoming chapter. 3 more maps to go...

I personally enjoy Rapture and Salt Factory, hence why my chapter will mainly consist of levels made with those tilesets.

The End is also pretty interesting because it features the rotating sawblades but it also has some extra obstacles found in it, such as the disappearing blocks.

Forest is my least favorite mainly because all levels made in it feel samey after a while. There's only so much that you can do with only sawblades and fire. Hell, you can't even have keys and locks in Forest. Also, you have to work really hard to make them look good, which doesn't make for a good tradeoff to me.

I think on top of the points you made (which I totally agree with), there's also the fact that the tiles in it are a little disjointed when used together... there's the usual forest stuff (dirt, grass, rocks) and then there's the wood stuff (those slats and thin edges), then there's the metal factory-like stuff.

When you add them all together, I find it frustrating to make a good design from the combination. Plus, I will be scarred for the rest of my life from making all the dirt tiles by hand in Sandy Mountain... idk how many there were but it took about a week of doing it for hours at a time.
