the sort of in the title is because this may be written by a fan, but it is canonical, I’m going to be retelling the game in epic fanfic form
This starts somewhere in the middle of where the comic left off, they are on their hike, but they stopped to have a small picnic
DUN DUN DUN
Chapter 1: The Forest 
Meat Boy and Bandage Girl were taking a walk in the woods; meat boy looked to his right, and saw a decrepit old cabin with a rusty chainsaw leaning on the wall and some saw blades on the ground nearby. "What's wrong Meat Boy?" Bandage girl asked him, holding his hand
"N...Nothing, everything's fine, Darling"
They continued on their hike, when Meat Boy stopped again. "Let’s set up here" He told Bandage Girl
"Good idea, this is a great place" She got out a wicker basket and set down plates, in the middle she set down a pitcher of lemonade, and on the plates she set two sandwiches. She sat down on the grass by her plate and picked up her food, they began to eat, Bandage Girl reached for the salt and sprinkled some on her food "Would you like some?"She asked politely
"No thank you, I can’t have salt."
"Oh, well ok then," she sat the salt back down on the grass. The salt shaker tipped and a few bits of salt fell onto Meat Boy’s hand. “Owowow!” Meat boy grabbed his hand “Ow! Ow! Ouch!”
“What’s wrong Meat Boy?”
“The salt! Rrggh…it got on my hand!”
“What can I do?”
“J….just get me some water to wash it out”
She did so, and they continued their meal in peace. Or so they thought, Someone was with them in the forest, Someone without such pure intentions. They decided to relax on the grassy hill and watch the sky, when they saw something. “What is that? Some kind of bird?” Bandage Girl asked
“I’m not really sure, it looks a little too big to be a bird” Meat Boy looked closer
“It’s growing” Bandage girl said, then she thought how dumb that sounded
“It’s not growing, it’s getting closer!” The unknown assailant snatched up Bandage Girl and flew off, flipping Meat Boy off before darting farther into the forest. Meat Boy gave chase and almost grabbed hold of the attacker’s cape before he flew over a cliff. Meat Boy caught himself just before he dashed over the edge, and came to a splashy, sliding, halt. He saw the black figure roughly drop Bandage girl on an opposite ledge, and then glide back over to him. “Who are you?” Meat Boy said with anger in his voice
“You really don’t know?” His cold, black eyes peering through his monocled dome.
“Wait…no, it can’t be” Meat Boy took another good look “Dr. Fetus?”
“Took you long enough” he said with a smug grin
“Long enough to recognize you, or long enough to notice you’re well within jumping distance?”
“Either works for me” he said with a smirk. Meat Boy lunged at Dr. Fetus, but, with a big flap of his Bat-esque bio-wings, he rose up, causing Meat Boy to miss, he was only able to say “Shit….” before falling into a huge sea of Buzz-Saws. Meat Boy let out pained screams before splattering into red mist.
“MUHAHAHA!” Dr. Fetus bent his head back and let out a wicked cackle
“Meat Boy, NOO!” Bandage Girl had a horrified look on her face
Meat Boy Rematerialized right next to Dr. Fetus. He poked him on the shoulder.
“Yes, yes, what is i-“Dr. Fetus looked at the blood covered saws, then at Meat Boy, back at the Saws, then back at Meat Boy again. “But…how?”
“Did you forget?” Meat Boy smirked
“I can’t die”
“DAMMIT” Dr. Fetus shook his fist “Well, I really must dash, have fun saving your beloved.” He wore a dastardly smile. “Tootles!”
He vanished in a cloud of blackish-purple smoke, when it cleard, he saw his darling Bandage Girl on the other side. This time he stepped back, got a running start, and leaped over to the other side where Bandage Girl stood alone. “Hey,” he said, she turned around
“Meat Boy!” She exclaimed, and ran into her skinless lover’s open arms.
“That was fast,” Dr Fetus rematerialized in another cloud of smoke. “But I’ll always be faster”
He said and snatched Bandage Girl from Meat Boy’s arms and disappeared again.
“Dammit!”
Meat Boy ran through the forest, he came into a clearing and looked up, he saw an old Sawmill. Reclaimed by nature, it had been out of order for several years, but just recently started back up. “I’m willing to bet that Sawmill has something to do with Dr. Fetus, as Meat Boy remembered that he once used the sawmill as a base of operations during their last encounter.
Meat Boy saw Dr. Fetus running through the woods towards the old cabin he saw earlier, Meat Boy chased after him. He looked on the ground and saw and old, rusty plate that read “Tommy’s Cabin”
Meat Boy ran in and saw, to his surprise, the whole inside of the huge cabin had been transformed into a deathtrap, he dashed into the cabin, jumped off of a wall onto the second floor, and leaped over a moving saw blade, then he slid under a vertical moving blade and right into Bandage Girl, but Dr. Fetus took her away yet again, bursting through a window and flying toward the saw mill. Meat Boy leaped after him, in another attempt to grab his cape, but yet again failed, Dr. fetus threw a flaming object down after Meat Boy, it collided with the ground and shattered, setting that entire section of the forest ablaze. He noticed a small stalactite inside of a cave, he jumped into in an attempt to knock it over, to make a bridge over the flames. The stone pillar crumbled, making a path for Meat Boy. He leaped over the flames, climbed up the wall, shattered another stone wall, and leaped over to Bandage Girl, until Dr. Fetus came once again. “You’re quite persistent, what do you say to a little…get together?” He flapped his wings “finger sandwiches, and tea made with your blood!”
“That sounds lovely" Meat Boy wore a positive, glad smile, very odd considering hte situation
“Just don’t be late, for Her sake” He cackled and flew off into the night.
“Things just got serious,” he said to himself “I need to get to the sawmill” He dashed after him
He walked through an open metal door, which slammed behind him. The old sawmill was alive and kicking, hard. There were contraptions that were launching saw blades across the room, Meat Boy did his best to jump over them while leaping up out of the room. He saw moonlight and hoped for the best, he lunged past the launcher and out through the ceiling and into the night, he saw bandage girl positioned nearby, part of him wanted to go and embrace her, but another part wanted to stay there, so Fetus wouldn’t come and take her away again. He couldn’t keep himself from her anymore, and lunged to his lover, and embraced her, but just like the other times, he came and took her deeper into the facility. He ran into the next area, the decay of the building was showing, like the yellow and black on a bee. The floor and walls ahead looked like they would crumble if Meat Boy even stepped on them, he ran past them with haste and leaped up the next area, he looked down, and sure enough, the old, brittle platforms had crumbled, revealing many active saws and bathing the room in an orange light. He leaped up the walls and into the next area where he hoped to find his beloved, but she was snatched up and brought through a door, she dropped a bandage when she was snatched, Meat Boy picked it up, and shuffled sadly into the next room. He felt as if he was being watched, he couldn’t put his finger on it, but he felt as if he wasn’t alone. He saw what he thought were bright yellow eyes staring at him from the shadows, he rubbed it off and continued his journey. He heard a splashing, like a ball of slime was slid against the ground. He heard a mighty, yet gruff battle cry “AARRRGGHHH” He turned around and saw something black lunging at him. The black mass engulfed his entire body, he managed to get it off and threw it into the wall. “GET OUT OF HERE, THIS IS MY HOME, NOT YOURS!”
“Whoa, whoa, buddy, what are you talking about? I’m not invading your home”
“That’s what the last guy said, and then he started running the damn place”
“Dr. Fetus? The Fetus in the jar and the tuxedo?”
“Yeah, that’s the one”
“I’m after him too,” Meat Boy looked at the odd creature, a ball of black, sticky goo with yellow eyes “Should we work together?”
“Hey, any enemy of my enemy is my friend. My name’s Gish” He looked at Meat Boy with a grin “I would shake your hand, but I don’t have one”
They treaded down the hall and opened the door, there was a huge pit filled with flames. “Lemme handle this one Meat Boy,” Gish said and leaped down onto the wall, he stuck onto it and leaped up and made contact with the Ceiling directly above the flames, he stuck onto the ceiling and slid over onto the opposite wall and climbed up the wall to where bandage girl was supposed to be. Turns out Dr. Fetus got sick of waiting and just took her into the next area himself. “Uh, Meat Boy, you should see this” Meat Boy climbed to where Gish was waiting, and saw a huge, red spiral. “I think you should go in bud,” Gish motioned toward the spiral
“Fine then, I’ll go, wait for me here” Meat Boy leaped into the spiral, it attempted to suck him in, he grappled onto a metal bar as hard as he could, but he slipped and was sucked in
“WARP ZOOOOOONEE!!!!!”
Meat Boy was dispensed into an odd, pink world, he saw bandage girl and ran toward her, but was quickly intercepted by someone wearing a black, odd looking suit. Strange flashing squares shot some form of ammunition at the Rainbow-trailed man, as if time were slowed, the floating man maneuvered past the pellets of energy and made it to bandage girl, much to Meat Boy’s surprise. There were more obstacles ahead, the man passed them with ease, and then returned to Meat Boy. “I know you….” He spoke in an oddly calming, yet mystical voice.
“Is that you…Commander Video?”
“Meat Boy! It’s been a while”
“I need some help with Dr. Fetus again, mind lending a hand?”
“you helped me, I shall help you, let’s go”
Meat Boy and Commander video emerged from the spiral just as it closed, Gish had no idea who the strange, tall person in the Black suit was, but he just went with it as they continued deeper into the facility. Meat Boy emerged into a large room, filled with the sound of buzzing, swirling saw blades, they were everywhere, and one of the launchers from before was mounted on the ceiling. Meat Boy climbed up the wall dodging the launched saws, and leaped over and crumbled another rock wall that had caved in into the facility, he leaped up to a maintenance vent, and kicked in the vent grating, did his best to avoid the saw blades, and reached Bandage Girl just in time before the last blade reached him.
“I commend your dexterity and bravery Meat Boy, and I see you found some friends as well, but now is the time to put you to the test” He didn’t say another word, but vanished into thin air with Bandage Girl.
Meat Boy looked out a window and saw that the sun had rose, he jumped out the window and ran into the forest, Where he saw Dr. Fetus emptying multiple gasoline containers all over a pile of dead leaves and twigs. He looked over and saw meat boy standing there, he lit a match, and tossed it onto the grass, the entire forest that Meat Boy and Bandage Girl once called home was now a burning inferno of death and destruction. Meat Boy’s jaw dropped as his home was engulfed in flames. Meanwhile, Dr. Fetus was buckling himself into what appeared to be a huge, bipedal robot with a chainsaw on the front, He saw Bandage Girl tied to the back of the robot’s cockpit, it looked over Meat Boy’s head menacingly, and started to give chase. Meat Boy ran and leaped over saw blades, brittle walls of weak rock crumbled, making new paths for him to follow, the enraged squirrels who once called the forest home lunged onto the machine and started tampering with the exposed wires and machinery. Meat Boy called out to the other squirrels to the same, they did, and Dr. Fetus began to lose control of Lil’ Slugger, and it crashed into a cave’s wall. Enraged, Dr. Fetus started banging on the controls, unable to get it started again. He looked out of the windscreen and saw Meat Boy, Meat Boy smirked and gave a little wave, this angered Dr. Fetus, as he untied Bandage girl, jettisoned from his craft, and flew off into the blood red sky.
