I really like super meat boy but, I have thought of a few ways it could be improved.
-more characters
-high score list can be organized by characters (that would give me a chance to try speed runs with each character)
-You can race your best time ghost on each level (this would make the high score lists even more competitive)
-some sort of multiplayer or co-op play.
Anymore ideas?

I fully agree with all of these except multiplayer. Why does it need multiplayer?!?!?!?!

Multiplayer would be really lame. Watching someone else play the same level you're playing...I dunno, it wouldn't add anything for me. And you can use Youtube for that if you want, plenty of people played this on there.
This game has more characters than most games with characters I know, so it doesn't need more. They're mostly very different too, so I don't really see why we'd need more with similar abilities.
High score list is bugged as hell anyway, organizing it won't help much. It just needs a big fix.
Racing a ghost...you can see the timer on the screen and on the replay, so you know when and where you need to improve it. Entirely useless imo.

I'd rather they focus on the level portal than try to implement these ideas tbh. Also, how the heck did I know there would be a suggestion of multiplayer in this thread?

For future reference, megathreads are usually a bad idea as discussions can stem off in different directions on different aspects (unless they are closely interlinked).
Trust me, I've been watching over a Feature Requests board on another forum for almost 2 years. I've seen it happen time and time again.

-more characters
Make indies games so your characters can appear in Super Meat Boy. -high score list can be organized by characters (that would give me a chance to try speed runs with each character)
It'll come a day before the end of the world. -You can race your best time ghost on each level (this would make the high score lists even more competitive)
Racing your ghost is ok but racing other ghost will jump reveal the pattern to everyone and thus ruining the idea of the leaderboards. -some sort of multiplayer or co-op play.
What's the point ? Also never going to happen.

Character specific leaderboards have been suggested several times already and are the only thing on that list that have even a slim chance of making it into the game.
Racing against ghost times would be nice, but without revamping the replay system you'd be racing against every attempt in the replay file and it would be tough to find yourself if you died a lot.

The multiplayer: Choose 5-20 maps to compete on. Do it something like Super Mario Party where you get a medal for each win then in the end game you get more medals depending on who had the best total time, least deaths, most deaths (just for fun to see who's the worst player:)), least ammount of jumps, longest jump, highest jump etc etc. This could actually be played 2-4 players at the same time local or over network, over network you could potientially be how many people you want. You could also add certain ammounts of live for each level, lets say one level has a par time on 10 seconds where you get like 2 tries and a 30 seconds long level you get 4 tries to get the best time. Could even use it to setup tournaments and make it a competetive game. You could also have like 2 minutes on each level to get a best time.
There's so much you could do with this kind of game in multiplayer.

I believe very strongly that the only thing that could make this already near perfect game even better would be more tiles and hazard sets to let the editing community go nuts with. Winter Theme: I'd love to see a winter themed tile set with thin ice as breakable blocks (especially over water), hazard ice blocks that slide (like lava balls but only on the ground), ice tiles with lowered friction to run on, snow storm animation layer instead of "wind lines", some snow covered trees and mountainous tiles, maybe some cave and frozen crystalline looking tiles in the set too with cool blue tints... or rather, leave them grayish so they pick up any color better. New enemy could be angry snowmen that throw snowballs that launch in your direction, but do not home in, like the saw blade launcher. Maybe yetis too that just walk back and fourth on a path. Egypt Theme: I'd also love to see some sand themed tiles. It would feature the typical Egyptian stuff like stone and statues, wooden lattices, ornate walls and pyramid bricks. It also would have a new hazard: sinking sand tiles (obviously where when you stand on them you sink till you disappear and die). Could also feature mummies that only walk in a straight line. Castle Theme: Think dark stone bricks (both gray and black with grey highlights), torches, wooden supports... hay, tables and chairs, candles, chandeliers and curtains. New hazards here being types of torture devices and enemy bats. I can imagine things falling off the ceilings that are timed for you to pass under them... maybe some pointy things that whip forward at you at a given interval. There are a lot of possibilities here. Future/Neon Theme: Imagine Tron style neon all around. I've already had success making this idea in current tiles with the help of some 100+ set lighting, but it would be awesome to have a whole set around this concept. Maybe a new hazard could be a dangerous pulse that follows a beam on it's path, so you could make dangerous "circuits". New enemy could be viruses... a virtual reskin of the "flying red/purple dudes" from the Rapture set but they only move in one direction at a time when chasing you, as if they were on a grid. There could even be a grid background you could use so it would look like they are following a path. I can totally see these in my head and if Edmund doesn't run with any of these ideas I may be compelled to make the art myself (probably couldn't do much with new hazards though). Feel free to post your theme ideas too! It's kinda fun.

If they ever did do additional DLC, that would be a nice addiiton - new tilesets for the editor with new hazards.

alien homonid for everybody Well you know that will happen eventually... there's no way that they're gonna maintain two completely separate versions of the same game. Unless they are, in which case, nevermind?
