I just got my Golden God a few days ago, and I was wondering a few things about your journey to Golden God (for those who have it).
How many deaths did you have approximately? I know I had more than I should've due to playing levels over just for the hell of it or helping my friends by walking them through levels I'd already beaten. Plus the occasional spiteful repetitive murder of Meat Boy.
All in all I ended up with about 10500.
What was the last thing you did to achieve Golden God?
For me it was getting the bandages in the last WARPZOOOOOOOOOONE! of Rapture. I generally like to do things in order but I managed to grab the Cotton Alley bandage as I was playing through it.
How about you? If you don't have Golden God, how many deaths are you at currently / how far are you towards it? Is there anywhere you are stuck?

I'm not even close to getting that. I'm still working through Cotton Alley on Light World, and Rapture's Dark World. That's not counting all the missing bandages and missed warp zones.

Just got it on the 360 version today. I need to do it on Steam. I don't have a death count because I told my friend he could borrow my Xbox for the weekend. The last thing I did was the Cotton Alley dark world. That shit is rough. I am proud to say that SMB is the first game I've gotten all the achievements for.

I'm pretty sure I have well over 1000 deaths, maybe 2000, and I want to say I have about 30% beaten. Of course, that's the easiest 30% of the game...

At least if you're planning on getting an A+ on every level (not required for Golden God) you don't have to worry about Cotton Alley Dark Worlds. Almost all of them are 60 second A+ times and you basically won't need even close to that much time on 80% of the level. When I went through I did all of the Light World before I even touched any Dark Worlds, and that helped me a lot, although I did get stuck on "4 letter word" for a while. |

 I have this game for Steam, so when I got the Golden God, I had screen my statistics...like a loser haha. Last thing I did to achieve Golden God was beat Level 7-18X. I still needed to beat 19X and 20X(which I did after), but it counted the achievement a little bit before. |

I honestly find the Dark World version of that level to be much easier. The hard part is first so you spend a lot less time screwing up at the end. 7-19X however... |

I got the achievement after beating one of the cotton alley dark world levels. It was strange to me, because I still had about 5 levels to go before completing the game itself. Regardless, I didn't consider myself done until I had completed the last few levels of the game, so I spent the last few days chugging away at those levels.
Lo and behold, Seneca Falls was the true achievement I was proud to get in the end of it all.

Same here. My last few were in the Dark World of the Rapture. It felt so good to get it. I guess it's worth mentioning that I was A+ing everything at the same time, too. I had around 10000 deaths when I finished. |
