Super Meat Boy and Minecraft FTW!

Hey Meat Forum,

I am having a bit of a problem. I bought and downloaded Super Meat Boy from steam some time in late December, and when It first finished downloading it gave me this message:

"
Runtime Error!

Program: c:\program f...

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way
Please contact the application's support team for more information
"

I then looked it up and learned that updating your Visual C++ might help, so I did that (I updated from Visual C++ 2005 to Visual C++ 2010) and I got it to work. The game ran perfectly for about a week after the C++ update, but then one day I brought my laptop to a friends house to show him the game and the Runtime error was back again.

I looked up the problem again searching stuff like "How to fix a Visual C++ runtime error" "how to fix a runtime error" and "Super Meat Boy runtime error" I came across a bit more information than I did the first time and found out about some more things I could update. I also learned that getting a registry cleaner may clear up problems on your computer that cause runtime errors. I decieded to try the updates first before I downloaded another program. I updated my Framwork .NET and my DirectX. After those updates Super Meat Boy ran fine for about a week and then again out of no were the runtime error came back. So I downloaded a free registry cleaner "Registry Easy" and got rid of a bunch of little problems with my PC, but that didn't make the SMB runtime error go away. So I "Downloaded" a full Registry cleaner called "Uniblue RegistryBooster 2011" I cleaned up even more imperfections on my computers registry and that actually worked in making meat boy run again... unfortunately like the other fixes this one lasted a little over a week and then the runtime error reared its ugly head once again.

On and off for the past couple months I have been trying to fix this runtime error for good, but I can't seem to find anymore fixes. I'v been searching help sites and reading forum post after forum post yet I cant seem to find any possible solutions that I haven't already tried. Randomly the game will work out of the blue for one day and then If I try to play it again the next day the runtime error is back. I have reached the bottom of the barrel as far as what I can find on the internet. but I am hoping that there is some one out there who knows a fix I haven't tried.

My Specs:

-My Laptop is a Dell inspiron 1525 32bit system

-I am running Windows Vista: Home Premium with Service Pack 2

-My Visual C++ is 2010, My Framwork .NET is 4 and as far as I can till I have the latest DirectX update installed

If you need anymore info on my system and what updates I have please let me know. I am begging for a permanent solution for this Runtime error, PLZZZZZZZZ HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been having the same problem.  I bought and downloaded the Steam version and have yet to be able to run it on this computer, I was able to run it on my old computer, but not this new one I just recently bought.  I've googled the problem and tried just about everything you have, update windows, drivers, C++ Redistributing whatever, nothing has worked  .  I am however surprised you actually have got it to work for a bit, before it went ahead screwed up on you again.  While I'm not happy about any of it, I'm kind of glad I'm not the only one having the problem.  Maybe if there's enough of us with the problem they'll find a fix for it?

PS.  To anyone on the support team trying to correct the problem, if you need to know any of my specs as well I'll be more than happy to post them if it helps to fix the problem, just let me know.

Oh goodness...  I just fixed it, well for my Steam version anyways.  Simply by doing what was posted in this topic:  http://supermeatboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,97.0.html.  Hope you can somehow manage to get it fixed as well, not sure if you said you had the Steam version or not.

I can't believe I haven't played the game in months because I didn't think their was a fix for it, then for some odd reason decide to check the forums for the game today and fix it just like that.  I'm excited I get to play now!

My old pc had this issue with xp where it wouldn't install 2 of the VC distros even on a clean windows install.  It would say shit like it was installed but would try downloading it each and every time windows update ran.  Also had the annoyance of bsods after an hour or two of any game, sometimes sooner.  I am not 100% sure what was causing this stupidity but it vanished the moment I got rid of my Nvidia card.  Also haven't seen that issue at all since upgraded to win 7 64bit.  I don't know how to resolve this issue, but I do know it's either Nvidia's fault or Microsoft's.  Be ready to battle your pc until you get a new one because it won't vanish easily.
