I really hope the level editor have some kind of "group waypoint" system, since it is annoying to give every object their own waypoints

Ah . Well, making waypoints one by one work, it is just time consuming.

That's disappointing. There needs to be a group waypoint system.

So when the editor is out in a few days in this  "secret" beta phase, does that mean that access to it will be limited or will anyone who wants to play around with it be able to? I never dug into devmode, I've been waiting for the proper editor.

The beta's going to be released to everyone, they just aren't going to announce it officially until it's finished (i.e. Enter the Unknown is available, bugs are worked out, etc.). If I'm wrong, then please tell me.

I hope we'll get Potato boy as a chooseable character instead of a replacing one.

when we reactivate devmode in the next update it will become the level editor. so only people who know the shortcut to it will be able to upload levels and play with it.

later on we will officialy announce the release of the beta editor and add a shortcut to it on steam you can just click to launch.

I had a few questions about level uploading to the portal.

What would be preferred to share works in progress in the forum to have them tested by other people? Should we keep doing things we way we are doing it now (which means uploading level files to various sites, have them downloaded and extracted to the Levels folder) or should they actually be uploaded to the portal?

If the latter aspect applies, would it be possible for a user to delete their own levels in the likelihood they want to replace them with newer versions?

But... Can we have Potato Boy as a selectable character, available when you unlock SMW?  Meat Boy

They should probably add a "Beta" section to the level portal where newly uploaded levels/chapters are placed until they've been played on 100~ times at which point (If no bugs are found) the level/chapter developer can request (or something) there level be moved to the non-beta sections of the level portal?

The reason I don't mention an automated system is because if a bug is found... what does the author do? D:

It's because it's Potato Boy.

Played 100 times? Are you mentally sound?

Most people would only want to play the NEW chapters anyway, most impatient users will probably be turned off by the idea of playing a possibly glitchy and unfinished chapter.

I think there should be NO beta system...

And also, if the names sound generic (some people might be GREAT level creators but bad namers) or if it's maybe the Kid or a disliked character, most people may assume it's bad / too hard.

Well instead of calling it Beta, call it "Experimental" or "New & Upcoming" or something and "played 100 times by at least 50 different people" was just a random attempt at a reasonable number, helps ensure players/authors receive/provide appropriate information about the levels like how good they are, if anything is tedious or ridiculous or impossible etc. so that the authors can fix up/adjust there levels before it enters mainstream.

Also if it was made compulsory that new levels pass through this system then this IS where people would go to to play bleeding edge new content.

Keep in mind the game has sold 10's of thousands of copies or maybe even 100's of thousands of copies, that's a massive player base and 100 plays is pretty small requirement for such a large pool of players.
