Hey everyone! 

I was just wondering if anyone else has attempted the Drunken Super Meat Boy Run that Clement attempted.  First of all, who is he?

I just played through the game this morning with 40 deaths, I think I can chop that down a bit and attempt the drunk run.  I bet I could do it in 30 or less deaths considering I'm really good at the game after a few drinks so I would have a window where I would not die as much. 

I will be attempting this challenge sunday night and I figured I would get myself some cherry whiskey just like Clement did.  I will have friends over to watch the excitement and I will be video taping the whole thing.

Only problem is the bulb on my projector is almost burnt out and the Lumens have gone from 2500 to 2000 so the screen isnt as bright as I would like it to be which makes darker levels like The Hospital and Hell a bit challenging.  But for the viewers I can up the brightness and contrast.

Think I can do it?

I was thinking all 20 levels of worlds 1-5, and then all 5 levels on world 6 plus the Final Boss stage.  And if I'm not plastered by that point I will attempt to do the Cotton Alley as well.  May God help me.

Well if I get too wasted I'll obviously want to stop.  But I'm confident that if I keep the size of the shots the same as Clement had them, and NOT DIE as much as he did, then I should be able to pull it off.  On top of that I'm gonna try to do it in less than 45 minutes.

My speed runs that I've recorded are as follows.

Forest: 2:18:2
Hospital: 4:15.4
Factory: 4:01.5
Hell: 7:28.0
Rapture: 10:14.9
The End: 2:12.8
Cotton Alley: 13:20.4

Total is 43.51.2

Oh and thats my record for KEYBOARD!!!  I just got the XBOX version so we will see what I can really do.

I know how to control myself when I'm drunk.  I have much experience with playing video games drunk.

And duh it will make it harder.  The first 10 death drinks should give me an alcoholic boost that will focus and center my chi for the more challenging levels.  I can see my performance exponentially decreasing after the 25th shot.  So lets hope I can beat the game before it gets to the 25th death.  I can get through worlds 1-4 with less than ten deaths.  So I'll be needing that boost for Rapture which IMO is harder than the cotton alley.

With 20 friends around and the pressure of hoping I dont have to take another shot, I'm not naive to this being a tough task.

I think I can do it, so place your bets.

Sometimes I find being buzzed helpful as far as taking the edge off in pressure type situations in games, SMB included. I'd have a beer or two while working on some of the no death runs and it was probably downright helpful.

I find the curve to be pretty small though, I'd say anything after about 2 drinks and it's time to stop playing SMB and switch to something like TF2 or L4D  .

Take a shot for every level you die on and not every death. It'll be much safer and you could probably make it through Cotton Alley too.

Now mushrooms, that I'll do.  Every couple months I do about an 1/8 or more of shrooms and go deep go hard into a game.  It was Ikaruga, Bayonetta, Rez, MM9, a bit of DKCR's 7-8 worlds, and now it'll be Super Meat Boy.  I couldn't really handle DKCR without a lot of breaks, way too intense...so hopefully I'll be able to man up and do a couple Meat Boy chapters before the thoughts start creeping in.
