I am severely baffled that a game like this does not have cloud save storage, utter failure

Thanks for the info Whatyr, I'll have to check that out.
It still blows my mind that they have not done this, especially for a file that's less than 10kb.

To be honest bro, there's many more pressing and important things for Team Meat to worry about right now. I'd much rather a 100% functioning portal and editor, and a 100% functioning Mac release before any redundant cloud support. After that's completed I'm sure the Cloud will come, but this is just two guy's, you have to cut them a little slack.
Besides, w/ the ammount of free content and support TM is offering the community (on both versions), do you honestly think any bigger corporation would be hurrying through the night to deliver an editor/portal/free DLC? These guys could have charged $10 a DLC chapter and most of us would have bought it, we'd also buy the editor and portal too. Team Meat will get to the cloud, but in any case there are lots of alternatives...including simply backing up your saves and sneakerneting them.

I would agree with you Jintek if implementing cloud storage was actually hard to do... To quote an article from 3 years ago Steam Cloud exposes a simple API to developers as part of the free Steamworks SDK that lets them save out game-generated data to the Steam back-end in a manner largely invisible to the user, even caching the data locally if an internet connection is not available and then updating upon the next connection. source http://www.develop-online.net/news/29885/Valve-unveils-Steam-CloudThis game is amazing and worth every penny I spent on it, I even purchased it twice, on steam and on xbox 360. That's why I'm confused as to why such a simple feature was not implemented from the start. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong, maybe its very difficult and complex to implement, but everything I have read indicates otherwise. It is a very small complaint in an otherwise fantastic game, if they plan on doing it in the future I can be patient, hell I still haven't 106'd this game yet. It would be nice to be able to make progress regardless of which of the 3+ computers I regularly play this game on.

They've already stated on their Twitter that they are going to try to get steam cloud support set up once the level editor is out. Be patient.

I wish I had known about Dropbox before my computer killed itself (it was a laptop, and therefore garbage). At least I had only gotten about 40 bandages and just reached Rapture, and was able to build back from my friend's game save.

And let's face it, that shouldn't be necessary.

And let's face it, that shouldn't be necessary. Yes, 7KB of storage is an amazing amount of space on your harddrive, and pressing CTRL + C is ridiculously hard to do. Especially when you have to press CTRL + V after.

Which you'd have to dig up and copy regularly after every milestone in order to minimize the impact if something goes wrong (multiplied for each backup you keep), and you still stand to lose a significant amount of progress in a crash, but at least you're not being a sarcastic dick about it for no reason. It would still be much more conveient for everyone if it just synced that incredibly simple 7 KB.

Learn to Dropbox.
Stop failing. It's lrn2dropbox. Oh, and to the Original Toaster, it seems like you want to care more about clouds than the actual game.

Just about to start on steam as I work my way through the dark world on XBLA.
I've never used Steam before at all and have somewhat shoddy internet connection at my house (seems to just disconnect for no reason), is this something definitely worth doing in this case? Sounds like a good little hack but don't want to bother if it's not essential. I'll probably really only be playing on one machine.
Cheers!
