I have the game on Steam already, but every time I try to install the CD version of the game (just got it today), it runs the Steam version that I already have installed. Even if I uninstall the Steam version, and then try to install the CD/limited edition from the CD itself, it just reinstalls the Steam version.
The problem is, Steam doesn't see the difference between the digital and CD versions.... Is there a way around this, or do I have to have a separate Steam account for the CD version???

Have you confirmed that Alien Homid is not a playable character in the reinstalled game?

Yes, checked the game, and there is no Alien Hominid. Also, couldn't find the soundtrack, bonus art, or any of the other extras in any menu...

The Ultra Edition IS the Steam version. They've said this over a dozen times already on twitter. I think it's supposed to come with a key for unlocking the game on Steam for those who don't already own it there. Try using that and it might unlock Alien Hominid. Also, couldn't find the soundtrack, bonus art, or any of the other extras in any menu... What the hell did you think that booklet in the box was then?

Doesn't work by using key. I contacted Edmund. He told me that they are working on this issue. As of now it seems you can't install the ultra edition on Steam if you already have the original (digital) version.
Uh, the booklet in the box only has the comic and sketches. All the bonus art, music, sound effects, trailers, and other stuff is on the disc.....

I understand it could be annoying, but why would you want two versions of the same game on the same Steam acc? Just start up another Steam account and see if that works, although it is kind of lame you can't unlock Hominid using the key.

I had a clean Steam account without Super Meat Boy, and I installed it using the DVD, but when I do it opens up Steam, copies over 25 MB from the DVD, then downloads/updates 262.5 MB. Once I get 30 bandages, only Josef unlocks without Alien Hominid as discussed above. I tried these methods: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5357-FSQM-0382 and https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8794-YPHV-2033However, Steam refuses to use the backup files on the DVD and insists on installing from their servers! I have talked to Edmund and Steam Support. In the meantime while Team Meat and Steam figure all this out, does anyone have any other ideas of how we can get Alien Hominid to unlock?

Dang, so it looks like people who didn't have SMB on Steam to begin with are getting screwed over..... Ya, the problem looks like Steam doesn't recognize a difference between the old version and the Ultra edition, so it just installs the old version. I would honestly just wait, and see what Edmund and Steam end up doing. I emailed him the day I got the Ultra Edition (Wednesday), and he said he is working on it, so I would just hang tight.
