Edmund said I could make this thread so I did.

Editor was just released. It can be accessed by using the -devmode shortcut like before, but the upload feature is disabled.

HOWEVER it's extremely buggy right now.


Major bugs:

  • Touching bandage girl then attempting to open the editor again does nothing. You need to restart it. Absolutely imperative that this be fixed. Edit: this doesn't happen all the time. Work around below
  • Resolution keeps being forced to 1280x720 when windowed.
  • Sound volume is forced to 70 upon loading any level.
  • Loading a level with invalid objects will crash the editor. Rare due to the infrequence of these objects.
  • F1 will randomly disable and make you unable to test.
  • A light will sometimes automatically get placed when you change out of lighting mode. Just as it did in dev mode.
  • Lighting is EXTREMELY buggy, will do more research as to what causes it to break


Misc bugs:

  • Typing in a level name to save/load will switch modes if you press applicable keys.
  • Selecting waypoint mode is iffy at best.


F1 GLITCH WORKAROUND

IMPORTANT INFO ON HOW TO PREVENT F1 BUG

After checking it out at bit, I think I found out the source of the problem when it comes to F1 malfunctioning after beating the level. To help preventing that glitch, you have to press F1 to return to the editor BEFORE BANDAGE GIRL DISAPPEARS. As long as the "Dr.Fetus kidnaps Bandage Girl" animation isn't finished, you can still return to the editor. But once that Bandage Girl has vanished from the level, you're trapped and you'll have to close the game and lose any unsaved progress you had.

Other known bugs are:

-upload button is disabled for this build.

-active input fields will insert themselves into other input fields if opened.

-layer colors fields reset when reopened.

I think a way to delete all invalid objects added by old devmode levels would be crucial. I keep crashing in some of the VVV levels I've made and I don't know what items I have that are invalid.

Edit: It crashes when I use the scroll wheel in object mode. I'm 90% sure these maps don't have any invalid objects since they're all the basic items that you can get from new maps in the same tileset.

the invalid object crash will only happen if you try to scroll through objects in a level that has them.

if you are in the retro set the most common cause is bandage girl. delete her and save then try and edit the level and it might fix it.

I did this, but no dice. I in fact deleted every object from the level, saved, then went to place another one... still crashed.

I meant the kind of camera that, while not letting you outside the map, can still move like the unset cameras.

Other camera bugs:

Clicking with the camera settings window open creates camera nodes as if the window wasn't open.

Fields will reset themselves to 1 or 0.00.

Is anyone else having trouble clicking on the menu buttons at the top of the F1 screen? I'm running in fullscreen mode and it keeps trying to minimize my game instead. I suppose I could just run it -windowed, but that's not how I roll.

Ah, more info on the Retro object crash.

Just made a new map in old devmode in the retro set with no objects whatsoever, saved it, and loaded it with the level editor. Still crashed.

Most of the buttons don't work in the editor, at least from my experience. There should at least be a notification as to what you have or what's going on.

Buttons work for me.

You're probably not running the game in a 16:9 resolution, not doing so made the buttons in devmode not work properly so I suppose the same thing applies in this new level editor.

They got the resolution glitch fixed in Super Meat World, so they should be able to fix it in the editor.
