Found a cool bug:
It is possible to reverse the controls by setting the camera zoom to a peculiar number...

please be telling me so I can make it for my TROLOLOLOL chapter

Here's my short tutorial to creating a "Reverse" level.

  • Select the "Camera" tab.
  • Right click on the red square where the starting point is located.
  • Press F5.
  • Set the "Camera Zoom" to a positive number (Preferrably 500).
  • And behold, your new peculiar mirror-image world! May I suggest the title for this particular level to be something along the lines of "Muscle Memory" or the like? Meat Boy

Ok, epic rage attack. The maw portals don't stay on screen for very long and I CAN'T DELETE THEM. It's so annoying to respawn and see a fraction of a maw portal.

Go in-game and then back into editor mode, they should be fixed that way.

Bugs
-Pressing F6 with no light selected makes editor "stuck". You can still save, but you can't place any objects or test the map. Only way to fix it is to restart.

-For example if you change light's properties, map's file name changes as well. Annoying because you need to save often and you have to always retype map's name.

-F5 still crashes editor.
-F4 also crashes editor.
-F3... crashes editor.
(Getting these settings screens, pressing any button crashes editor, at least for me...)

Please, fix these crashing and freezing problems soon as possible, they are making mapping really annoying. Resolution bug is also pain in the ass.

Is there any information if the beta level editor will be a big improvement compared to the devmode-like one thats enabled right now? Didn't try devmode cause I wanted to wait for the actual editor, but from what I've been reading here it's not much of a difference so far... didn't try it though. I also asked edmund on twitter, will post answer if there will be one.

[EDIT]
Also, I'm not sure if this is even the right thread for that question.
Feel free to move it if it's not.

The promised answer:
@supermeatboy will the beta level editor be a lot different (better) then the recently published devmode one? or is it basically the same?
@hailtotheflow the latest devmode is the level editor, we will be updating it with quite a few fixes before launch though

The latest devmode is in fact the beta level editor, feel free to enjoy the updates made:
  • Added buttons instead of keyboard keys.
  • New bugs.

And seeing the lights in the editing menu. Best improvement, imo.

The file is there.
Either the editor doesn't work properly with Wine or it's a bug.

Some questions:

Can enemies, bandage girl, and or/meatboy be affected by layer color?  How do you do those crazy silhouette levels?  Is there any way to just tint enemies using layer color?

Can parallax be brought to the foreground?  I want to make a level with some spooky atmospheric fog.  I can't remember if this ever happened in the regular game.

Is there any way to layer tiles over one another?  Like the tiles that look like windows, can they be opening out onto another tile on a layer further back? And can the frontmost tile be stood on by meatboy?

What exactly can we control as far enemies are concerned?  I know we can control their speed and weight, but is there any way at all to manipulate size, starting direction, range of vision, ability to phase through tiles, etc.?  Can enemies be turned into foreground and background elements to either add atmosphere or as a harmless scare tactic?

Why are so many feature concessions (such as adding tilesets) being made just so the editor is compatible with the XBLA version/teh internets (I'm assuming this is why they can't do certain things)?  Won't our pc character exclusive levels already be incompatible anyways?  This is more food for thought and encouragement for a modding community to get its ass in gear than a question I expect an answer to.
