Hey there everyone, I'm working on a new project to compensate for the fact that the end tileset is borked for now. I'm returning to my 8-bit style roots with this chapter, and luckily, these won't be monstrously hard (until I decide to do a dark world), and they'll be quite short too; Each level will take place on one screen.

I uploaded the first 10 levels to super meat world and put them in a beta chapter!

1. Wind Tunnel - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617747783034?tab=public

2. Stalactites - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617748176478/?tab=public (All ceiling spikes fall, and the ones next to bandage girl shoot right)

3. Volcano Valley - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617755882235

4. Key Game - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617756385930?tab=public

5. Industrial Field - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617756385312/?tab=public

6. Triple Threat - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617762676351?tab=public

7. Cobalt Corporation - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617762678090?tab=public

8. The Gold Room - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617762681501?tab=public

9. Under Construction - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617770620812?tab=public

10. Motorized Action - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/558653617770619892?tab=public

11. Perilous Platforms - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/560910393741227761?tab=public

12. Observer - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/560910393741256699?tab=public

13. Blown Away - http://steamcommunity.com/id/cousinoer5/screenshot/560910393741262422?tab=public

That's all for now. Comments are welcome. Meat Boy

So far it looks really good man, I'm always a fan of 8-bit style levels so can't wait to try them out when I get the time.

I am trying them out now, I guess I could give you a thoughts so far thing.
Favorite level: 10, hard but for some reason I found it really fun.
Levels not beaten yet: 2, 7 and 8.  I got really close on 7, that last block is a bitch. :#
I think the difficulty level is very non-consistent, I beat 8 on my second try but I still haven't beaten some.
On the level design - Most are very nice but some use what I feel is the same trick that I've seen used in other levels that people have made.  Like 5 and 6, except 6 had a nice ending to it.
5 was ok but felt like it could be spiced up a bit.

I will keep playing to try and beat the others.

The only consistent complaint I have about those levels would be that you often put the hardest section/obstacle at the very end of the level, which make them pretty frustrating. Levels 1, 2, 6 and 7 would be the notable offenders here. Switching the order in which the hazards appear might make them flow better.

All in all, you did a great job scaling the difficulty down for those levels ever since your last chapter, while those levels remain very hard, they feel possible to beat this time around compared to Life's a Glitch (in fact I beat all of them except 2, 6 and 7). Level 5 and 9 may be a little too easy compared to the other levels of the pack, plus Level 9 felt pretty straightforward.

Also, Level 9 has a shortcut that probably wasn't intended.

I'll echo Splee and say that Level 10 was my favorite level of the pack so far. It was pretty fun and you did a good job balancing the difficulty on it well, since the level becomes easier the more you progress through it.

As for other comments regarding the levels...

Level 1 was pretty fun and hectic, but the final jump you have to do to get to Bandage Girl really is a bitch, moreso with the two rocket launchers in the hallway.

I liked the idea with Level 2, but the section with the horizontal spikes really felt annoying. I probably would put this section to start the level up because the rest of the level is nowhere near as difficult.

Level 3 was a pretty intriguing level, I think it's the first time I've seen a level which felt more like a puzzle stage than an action stage. With that said, it still requires a decent amount of precision to beat.

I also enjoyed Level 4 a lot, who knows why. :p

It's kind of a shame that the portal apparently won't have a leaderboard because Level 5 would be really interesting as a time trial level. The challenge would lie on how fast you beat it and not on the level layout itself.

Level 6 is the only level in the pack I didn't like. The first two sections felt trivial and too easy, but the final part is where all of the level's difficulty lies. Or maybe I suck when it comes to jumping on very narrow breakable blocks.

I liked the first half of Level 7, but the last few jumps are really annoying. That last block with the fast gears is just really unforgiving.

Level 8 felt impossible until I discovered that walking makes almost every jump you have to do manageable. It felt like XOXO, only though it didn't take as long to get to the hard part.

All in all, this chapter is certainly shaping up well so far. You've had pretty creative level design in Life's a Glitch and it's good to see that same spark into those new levels while making it more accessible. Keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot for the feedback, guys! Glad to see I'm kind of on the right track here difficulty wise (people can actually beat most levels, progress has been made! )

Re: the difficulty curve: I'm making these levels as I get ideas, this definitely isn't the final order of the levels.

As for switching up the obstacles, I'll give it a shot, it shouldn't be that hard.

Running through level 5, I was thinking about the speed run potential of it too. It takes a lot of finesse to efficiently run through the level. Also level 8 was giving me major XOXO vibes too while testing too.

Thanks for the catch on level 9, it's nothing too serious, but totally fixable.

I'll do what I can to fix up the complaints, thanks again for the comments!

Rise from the grave!

I haven't worked too much on this due to the dreaded combination of no inspiration and school work, but now it's summer, and I have some ideas, so let's get this chapter back on track!

I've made 3 new levels, I won't release them until I finish the chapter. In the mean time, I uploaded the first 10 levels to SMW, so you can play those while you wait.

The screenshots in the OP don't really do these new levels justice, so I'll flesh it out a bit more.

11. Perilous Platforms - Remember those blocks in Megaman? They've come to Super Meat Boy to make your life miserable! Plus random fireball launcher to spice up some jumps (I was going to use a rocket, but that'd be too nasty! This isn't Life's a Glitch.).

12. Observer - An experimental level. All the light blue tiles are foreground, which means you have a bit of obscured vision of the level through the windows, and blind spots where the solid blocks are. I might restructure the level because right now, it's a pretty cookie cutter "avoid the missile" level.

13. Blown Away - The fans will be blowing you away after you leave the safety of the starting area. Utilizing wall jumps to get a boost is vital to avoiding the moving laser. It's a pretty tricky level and will probably go in the latter part of the chapter.

That's all I have for now, any comments are welcome! Meat Boy

Nice, but you made the common mistake of using regular Meat Boy in an 8-bit chapter. Other than that the levels are really nice. Atm I only finished 2, though.

Damn, 13 looks like a huge improvement to the beta shot you gave me. I'll be sure to play these :D
