Sorry, did a quick search and didn't find a topic like this (although I'm sure it's out there somewhere.)

Does anyone know a reliable way to play SMB on my PC with a PS3 controller.
I'm starting to find it difficult with my keypad and recently picked up a PS3 (I have my reasons so don't go into a 360 vs PS3 argument)
I know that it's possible and it has a USB connection as well so shouldn't be too hard.

A quick google search came up with some options but if anyone can recommend me something that would be good, otherwise I'll probably just do something like this:
http://www.gamefront.com/how-to-use-a-ps3-controller-on-a-pc/

Thanks! :D

Once you have it setup, use the "Xbox 360 controller emulator" option and it'll perfectly emulate all buttons and keys like the 360 controller.  Works perfectly for Meat Boy.

Jintek said everything.
The only thing about MotionInJoy who sucks is, you must have an internet connexion to work (new versions of the software).
I didn't find how to emulate drivers in LAN (i wanted to play SMB during travels, but didn"t make it with MIJ  ).

There is an another software you can use, but don't remember his name.
You can bind every key as you want (loading x360 profile and binding with your ps3 pad).

Maybe someone can drops the name.

K, thanks for the help.
If anyone does find the name of that software then I'm interested but I'll try out the first one for now. (I'm generally around internet anyway but being able to go without it would be nice.)
Thanks! :D

Sorry for the late reply / bump but thought it's better than making a new thread...
I tried out Motion in Joy but whenever I connect my PS3 Controller in it doesn't seem to register that it's connected in MiJ :S
I also read that it can give you BSOD :S

Does anyone else know anything reliable which I can use or a fix for why it doesn't pick up my controller? Thanks :)

Yeah, it can give you a BSOD but that is supposedly fixed in the latest versions.

As for it not picking up your controller, be sure that you connect the controller AFTER launching DS3 Tool and see what happens.  You also may need to reload the driver in Driver Manager too.  To be honest the driver/app is still buggy so you might have to bear w/ it and see what works on your system.  If all of that fails, try another USB cable and another port and see if it picks up the controller in DS3 Tool, and also remember it will not pick up the controller until AFTER you've loaded the driver in Driver Manager.

As for another program, to be honest I'm not familiar with any other PS3 controller apps.  Also, keep in mind if you want to use Motioninjoy offline, since use this:  http://forums.motioninjoy.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1421
