Figure this might be up the alley of Meat Boy fans, brutally hard $1 Japanese platformer on Xbox Indies:



It's more trial and error based than Meat Boy though, because of it's emphasis on traps.
You start with 1000 lives, and you might need them all...

From the hero, from the gameplay, from the enemies, from the traps, from the artistic directions, from the color choices, from everything, it's a point-by-point copy of the first chapter of Rick Dangerous.

Or maybe the trailer is fooling me, but if you like it, maybe try the original (and there is not only mayas there to beat ;) ).

It's probably a bit more forgiving than Rick Dangerous in how much time you get to avoid traps, but yeah definitely inspired by it.
