Hey guys,

I've been lurking in these forums for quite a while, but never felt inclined to post, as all of my questions, concerns, etc. had already been asked/answered elsewhere.  Yet, after what happened last night, I figured it was time I "stepped out into the light," so to speak, to share this with the SMB community.

Basically some friends and I were putting on a Super Meat Boy Race over at Justin.tv (great site for live game casts) and not only did both Edmund & Tommy drop in on our Skype call, but Danny Baranowsky was also in the chat giving away codes for the SMB soundtrack! Needless to say... IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!

Here's the link to the video of the live event (Edmund joins the call around the 27:00 mark, and Tommy joins later): http://www.justin.tv/retrorockstars/b/285830020

Besides Edmund & Tommy being on the Skype call, whom I'm sure you'll recognize right away, there was also myself (I'm the guy who can't stop fawning and complimenting the shit out of Team Meat  ), Chatia12 (the race was her idea), and Retro_Inferno (he hosted the event).

Anyway, hope you enjoy the vid! Meat Boy

Oh god yes, I can't speak for everyone on that call, but I know I was definitely nervous! It's not every day that you get the random opportunity to having a meaningful dialogue with 2 of the greatest game developers working today.

Great job! I didn't know about the stream, but I've downloaded the whole vid about 2 hours ago and it's awesome :)

That's some pretty cool stuff. I watched about half an hour of the stream starting at that 27 minute mark and, again, that's pretty cool. I wish I could've seen the stream live for myself

Hi all,
I was in the skype call as well (Chatia12 mentioned in MAN's post, girl voice on the cast).  Just came to say a huge thank you to all of Team Meat for stopping by, it was sooo cool to have what was going to be just a fun little race turn into this huge epic event.  To share the skype with those guys was AWESOME! Tommy and Edmund were just so cool to talk with, I'll definitely remember that cast forever  !

This proves that the time it took to get the editor out is not Team Meat's fault.

Man, that is awesome, I'm jelly. But more importantly, how did you get that split screen to work?

Man, that is awesome, I'm jelly. But more importantly, how did you get that split screen to work?

Basically, one person (in this case Retro_inferno) "hosts" the race by opening tabs of each individual racer's channel at Justin.tv in their browser, then, using a program called Xsplit (a great free solution for live broadcasting of games) the host can capture each racer's video feed and then compile them all into one "shot" that then can be broadcast to the host's Justin.tv channel. That is the overly simplified explanation of how it's done.

Glad ya liked the vid.

didn't read the whole thread (just OPs initial post - not enough time) but i wanted to say that i REALLY congratulate you on that awesome situation and appreciate a story of such nature very much!

it just goes to show how cool Tommy and Edmund are to drop in and just shoot the shit with the fans a little!

i'll watch the vid when i get back home.
