You aren't really missing out on anything.  8 is a pretty shitty game.  They took everything that made Mega Man fun and fucked it all up.

But I play Cave Story and Megaman 10 aswell.

A japanese fan actually remade both 7 and 8 as 8-bit Mega Man games.  7 was quite fun when Mega Man didn't take up half the screen.  8 was still a lousy lousy game though.  I found it pretty interesting.  Also Mega Man 7 would be the easiest game in the series if it weren't for that fucking Wily battle.  Hands down hardest one of all.

Super Mario Bros for the NES
-with the whole if you die you have to start ALL over again. 

2D Prince of Persia
-also very evil 

Super Mario World
-only the super secret levels, and as long as you don't use the cape or yoshi.

Super Mario Bros. 3 Battle Mode
- if you play for a long time with someone else it gets very very hardcore. 

And yeah possibly also the Prinny game for psp
- can get very very challenging on hard mode

Flash Meat boy
-as long as you've got a mapped USB controller 

and tons and tons of snes and nes games that are hardcore but only because of their horrible game mechanics :P

I knew what he meant, but was surprised that anyone would think Super Mario World was hard.  I've been beating that game since I was 5 (including Star Road/Special Zone).

True it's only hard if you've got no thumbs but yeah still think it deserved mention. Indeed the only level I remember giving me some minor trouble was the tubular level (the one with the balloon, right?) but yeah it wasnt 7-19x hard. Still think it's a hardcore game though especially with 100% completion.



What did you guys think of the Contra games? I personally thought the NES one was not as hard as the SNES one.

Contra, eh?  3 (SNES) and 4 (DS) are the only two that I've beaten, but I wasn't a big fan of the NES ones.

Why nobodoy says nothing about Rayman? Very hard, very amusing and the music and sprites are lovely.

Try it if you can, you will enjoy it.

Also, I hate Ubisoft. Rayman 2 was be in 2D, like Rayman style and it seems to be even better. But no, 3D and normal game. Crap.
