I am having loads of unfinished games around here. One of the few that I finished is my entry for the last Ludum Dare, where you have to make a game in 48h. That'S why it's simple, the graphicsa nd music are not very good, but hey, it's finshed.

Love the use of Wario Ware music in the trailer, let alone that song.  Best boss stage in any game ever  Meat Boy.  Also the concept looks pretty neat, good luck with that!

Thanks!  Haha, yeah, I wanted to use a song called Exquisite Dead Guy by my favorite band (They Might Be Giants), which really fit, but of course, YouTube's damn copyright restrictions wouldn't hear a word if it.  Still, I like how it turned out. Later in the thread I linked to, you can see some of the new art by Scattle.

Uhm, to jump right in; has anyone heard of Super Mario World ROM-hacking?
Well I do that and it's not really a game that I am making, but well I do make new graphics, music, level design and can change some tiny stuff in the game play itself. Just the engine and some soundeffects stay the same.
It's as close as I can get to make my own game. Doing that however will always be a dream.
But yeah, SMW-ROM-hacking is what I do, sadly nothing finished so far because it is after all a lot of work and I currently have problems with the music in my levels...

I think my amusement died really soon with a lot of games of which I've been getting.  Heck, I can't even be bothered to install some.

Recently I've gotten as far as I ever have with game-programming (Getting it to a point where "Playable" is a possible word to use to describe it), It's a crappy, pseudo-zork game with 2 player hotseat multiplayer.

It also is super meat boy related. So I made a thread in fanstuff http://supermeatboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,306.0.html

Nowai. I did a LOT of Super Mario World rom hacking a couple years back but I never actually finished work on my main hack. You can get the IPA here but I'm warning you now, it's old and it's not the most interesting thing in the world. Otherwise, enjoy :)

Maybe someday I'll return to SMW hacking and continue work on it, but for now it'll remain an early demo. Besides that, trying out other people's hacks was/is fun as hell and it probably consumed most of my time spent with SMW hacking. Brutal Mario and Kaizo Mario World ftw :D

Aside from all of that, I have tried using Game Maker before but it's a piece of crap and I never got anything done with it (though I need to give it props for being the program that Mighty Jill Off was created with). I recently begun learning C++ and I'm hoping that I can get a good understanding of it and use it to create games in the future. So far, it's looking like I need to learn butt-tons of information but I feel like it'll all be worth it eventually :)

Since you guys are on topic about Super Mario World hacking, this has been one of my favorite videos for a long time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvY1MNF26-w

I've recently finished a basic, not-too-bugtested game based from the dungeons and dragons ruleset. I'll upload it when filesmelt is not dead anymore.

I'm a SMW Hacker too.

And since you all seems "poor" SMW hackers (no offence) I reccomand you this site : http://www.smwcentral.net/
It's basically THE forum of the SMW hacking, there is plenty of great hacks and even "A Super Mario World Central Production", a big collab hack with 122 levels !

I'm sorry man, but if you can't get anything done in Game Maker, it's a PEBKAC error. I'm reluctant to switch to pure coding because it's so effective (though I know I'll have to at some point.) There've been some FANTASTIC GM games, not just Mighty Jill Off, but Super Crate Box as well. It's completely intuitive, and fairly flexible for a drag and drop program. Not trying to bully, I just couldn't let the program that allowed me to make games at all get trashed like that. Call me a fanboy, if you must.
