Ok, let me start out by saying that what I'm about to ask is probably a bit on presumptuous side, and I'd like to apologize for that. However, when you are in a position where you could possibly better your chances at getting the job you feel may be a perfect fit for you and totally change your life, it makes it a little easier to ask...

I'm applying for a level design job at a local-ish game company, who I will leave unnamed for now.

I was wondering if anyone in this community who has the capabilities could possibly help me out by making a YouTube video review of some level or set of levels of mine which you feel had notable level design.

I'm only asking that you be fair, I don't want any special treatment or anything... the idea is that upon request, that I may have a few more resources to show a potential employer from some of my most recent (and in some ways, more directly relevant) work. I feel like it's one thing if you have created something at all, but another thing entirely if you have some who actually find it worth mentioning.

Getting this job would mean the world to me and if anyone could help me out here I'd be absolutely grateful.

Thanks in advance guys. Meat Boy

Well, my PC isnt enough powerful to make a SMB video, but I played your levels and I think that you have enough potencial to be a good level designer. Good luck with that.

Also, didnt Team Meat promoted your levels? If Team Meat would say "yeah, this guy make awesome levels and we recommend him" or something like that, you would get the job, I'm 100% sure about it. Maybe you should ask about this to them but... that's your work right now.

Ask SA667 or Psychedelic.

Especially Psychedelic.

Well, I would only do honest reviews and I honestly didn't like The Lime Key at all. I might give Passenger a go, but from the looks of a video of it...meh. You have some good ideas here and there, but you don't fully grasp what a fun level is. A puzzling level, yes. A challenging level, yes. An original level, yes. But I like my SMB levels not too long and with the difficulty mostly at the beginning. It can be challenging throughout the entire level if it's not too hard or too long. I can already tell that I wouldn't even bother with about 5 levels in this pack and this makes me not want to play the entire pack. I don't find it satisfying if I skip levels.

No offense whatsoever, I still wish you good luck on getting the job.

Somehow I'm not sure I understand the point of it.
Will an employer like to watch a video of *someone* commenting your level ?
Just speculating here, but I suppose if I was interviewing you, I would rather like *you* to show me your levels and show me / explain me what is so particular about them, not someone else.
Besides, I think one of your chapters is featured, isn't it ? I can't imagine an Youtube review from a random player being more valuable than this (as featured levels are picked directly by the devs afaik). Just my 2 cents.

Maybe you are asking people because you are not fluent at video editing or commenting ? (just asking)

Btw, do you have or can borrow a laptop ? If yes, I suppose you could bring playable versions of your work to your interview. That would also allow you to open levels in the level editor to show how you worked on it for instance, even though this might be overkill (I'm not too sure), but it sure can't hurt to be able to show more detailed information if asked.

Ok guys, well, I thank you for the suggestions. There were some good ones for sure.

I didn't claim that I knew asking this of the SMB community was the best course of action, just that I felt it couldn't hurt. Plans have changed somewhat also, I'm shooting for another place too (across the country in CA of course!), and I'm building a new Drupal portfolio right now to apply with. Thanks for the good wishes, I appreciate it. I really, really hope this works out, since I idolize this particular studio's work... and no I'm not applying to work for Team Meat, although I would gladly do so if they would have me.

I remember Team Meat saying that they didnt want anyone to join the team, sorry  If your still interested, I might make a review of your levels, but to be honest: I dont think a review from a random 15 years old with bad english would make a difference

Yeah, I remember them saying that as well, that's why I was just half-joking. Also, sorry I never did that interview you asked for, I just got caught up in various things and for a while thought I wasn't interested in SMB anymore... which would have really killed the mood .
