Duke Nukem Forever came out just over a week ago, and I have to say I loved every minute of it. While the game came off as clunky in some areas, overall it was a fairly fun experience.

It was good to see Duke back and while it wasn't any sort of modern marvel redefining gaming as we know it, it was fun.

Did anyone else play it and enjoy it?

I'd say 40 euros for 12 years of development is a decent price. But I disliked the original very much. I don't find it interesting to be some blunt alpha male cursing and shooting things. Especially not 'forever' as the new game implies.

Probably wouldn't be your thing then. Thing is, people are expecting a masterpiece due to the 14 years in development, rather than "just a game".

When you see masterpieces like Portal 2 developed in ~1 year, you're expecting a lot of a game developed in 14 years.

Tip: Spend time looking around. So many visual touches are added to the environments.

Really?

I guess that you dont know that it was 14 years because every time a better engine was released, they just remade the game again and again and again.

Also, Portal 2 was 2~3 years on development.

No love for Duke.

The game is shit. It's crappy mix of few oldschool ideas with the worst thigns which happened to the fpp in last few years. It's like CoD - running in the tunnel. Graphic looks like it was written at first Plystation, optimalisation is a joke, loadings last forever, gameplay sux, Duke isn't funny anymore, etc

For me it's 0/10. This game shouldn't be released.

Portal 2 would of been developed in significantly more time than that; they only announced it later in development.

Now, I don't mean this in a derogatory sense, but how old are you? Honest question, I'm not going to flame you with "OH DURR YOU'RE FIFTEEN GET OUT,".

Because a game is only made of an engine yes.

You know there's something called creativity and ideas.
This game doesn't have that.
And in 14 yeras you can easily have that.

25. And I loved Duke Nukem 3D. But DNF is so different. If they made it just simple remake of the old Duke with better graphics, I'd be happy. But many aspects of this game is fucked up. Examples?

- you can carry only 2 weapons. Wtf is this, is Duke so weak that he can't take all the guns? What happened? :P
- races?! In fps game? :P
- trying to be 'oldschool' adding the 'nicest' elements from today's shooters (example - you start the game, fight first 'boss' (the whole fight is just a joke btw, there's absolutely no challenge) and after beating him you get the message like 'press e to kick the eye of mr boss'. And the whole game goes like that... 'repeadetely press space to do something' oh my fuckin baby, why in every new game am I treated like stupid monkey? Where's freedom? Where's place for creativity? This game is just one big scripted tunnel, like fuckin CoD, and that's why I don't like it)

"DNF looks as a Playstation 1 game"
"Races on a FPS?"

I can't take you seriously

I am 12 and what is this? Honestly, based on some video reviews, I can't agree more. It reminds me a lot of CoD1, without the cool feeling of fighting for what's right, because the main character is so unlikable.
