CASTLEVANIA:
BAT DODGING
SOUL COLLECTING
VAMPIRE HUNTING
WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A THREAD

Honestly though, I am very much in love with this series. Not all of the installments are equally awesome, but I like a lot of them. I'm currently doing another playthrough of Aria of Sorrow, one of my favourite ones. I generally like the newer Castlevanias like SotN and the GBA/DS games the most.
I really hope there will be a new 2D "Metroidvania" for the 3DS that is not a remake. That will be a very easy way to make me buy a 3DS.

So, which one is your favourite? Have you tried the very different Xbox360 Lord of Shadow (3D platformer game) yet? Or are you maybe in love with the NES/SNES ones?

What is a StealthAngel? A miserable pile a secrets!

Sorry, had to use that up as fast as possible.

Funny. I love Metroidvania games but have only played the former. Metroid: Zero Mission is a good game no matter what idiots will tell you!

I loved the original/SOTN/Rondo of Blood back in the day, and I even thought Lords of Shadow was pretty good, highly underrated.

So I agree, a brand new 2D old school Castlevania on 3DS is a must, and we can add a new 2D Metroid to that as well...Metroid Dread anyone?

So I loved Shadow Complex, and after hearing it called a "Metroidvania" game so many times, I decided to play a Castlevania game. I got SOTN on XBLA, and ... I don't like it.

My character is slow, underequipped, and dies all the time. I also don't know what I'm doing or where I'm going. Am I just bad? Give me some tips to enjoy the game.

If you die to much dont just rush into action,
You must plan!

I'm not the greatest SotN fan out there, because I agree that the main character feels a tad slow. In the beginning you die a lot, but that's because you have to get a feel for the controls and you shouldn't explore too much at the time. This is not CoD where you can just rush through the entire level and expect it to go well. You have to be careful and get used to the enemies.
