Yeah, I know, I need to go deeper but the thing is that I never actually effeciently dig the same way that most people do. All I do is find an open cave and look around in it. I really should find a better mining system. I'm just too lazy to actually do it. And for the record, Diamond is commonly found up to layer 16, rare between layers 17-19 and there's none above layer 20. Info from minecraftwiki.com's Altitude page. (Very useful website, I highly suggest you bookmark it if you haven't already.)

Lava is in all caves at layer 10 and below. Personally, i make a branch mine at layer 12.
Also, Flint and Steel wears out, Buckets don't. Can't use Buckets of lava to light a nether portal unless you're really clever, and flint is easy to light a portal.

And now, for no particular reason, some pics of my house. Outside of my house and some of the surronding areaThe somewhat massive amount of trees outside my houseThe first room you come into when you enter my house. (Not pictured: the furnace right next to me on my left. You can just barely see it's corner though.) The chest contains basic equipment ie Swords, Pickaxes, Torches and the things needed to craft the equipment ie Iron, Coal.My unfinished kitchen, through the door of the first room. The chest contains food and other miscellaneous items such as bones and string. The only top floor room of my house, right above the first room. Chest contains stuff for building ie Planks, Cobblestone, Dirt. It's not much but it's really all I need. I'll probably decorate once I've finished it and have more stuff. I do plan to make another room on the top floor, right above the kitchen, for harvesting crops. And I know, my floors are still dirt/grass, but replacing them with wooden planks is my next priority, then finishing my kitchen by putting a furnace in it, then the fourth room. Here's an anecdote about that big tree in the second picture: Earlier today, I decided to go get some wood from the trees outside. There was a big tree right where there is one now, so I decided to cut it down. It took ages to get all the wood from it and it gave me about 3½ full stacks of planks. It also gave a buncha saplings. When I got the first sapling, I placed it right where the bottom of the tree was, like I always do. When I had got most of the wood and had prceeded to start punching through the leeves to find more, I dropped to the bottom to pick up anything that fell off. A small tree had already grew where the bottom of the big tree was. Now that I've got all the wood from the big and small tree, there's another big tree in the exact same goddamn space. There is also yet another big tree that I would see if I turned about 90 degrees right from where I stood when I took the picture. I don't think I'll have a shrtage of wood anytime soon, do you? Long post is long.

That is a good idea, but I have a pretty good startegy for fighting Creepers. Using an Iron Sword, hit them, move back a bit, hit them again, move back a bit, hit them a third time and collect any Gunpowder they might've dropped. Of course, if it starts to go off, move WAY back until it looks normal again. I'll probably put torches outside anyway though, cause they don't really use up a lot of resources, and I have a bunch of coal.

Fair enough. Although, that would be pretty damn hilarious. I might put something up on my roof so it isn't so bland, too, so it would help for that.

It's in fact hilarous except for the part where you have to rebuild your house.

Yeah, that would kinda suck. Anyway, I have now replaced my dirt/grass floors with planks, and I have made the chest in the top floor room a large chest so it can hold the gazillion cobblestone blocks I'll get from making the fourth room. I also crafted an Iron Shovel so i could quickly get rid of my dirt/grass floors, an Iron Hoe for the fourth room, which will be my crops room and a Wooden Hoe because crafting an Iron Hoe doesn't get you the achievement. Also, Iron shovels get rid of dirt hella fast.

Gentlemen, I have an announcement to make. Well, not really an announcement, more of me admitting something that some of you probably already knew: I am a moron. I decided to make my fourth room now, and seeing as how it was for crops, I made a buncha torches. I decided to use them for my crops room, then see what I had left to put otuside and on my roof. My hindsight rating of this idea: BAD. At one point, when I was just about finished everything but the ceiling of my crops room, I ran out of wood. But it was night, so I decided to wait 'til morning to cut down some trees. However, when morning came, I looked at my door, and had a minor heart attack. 2 Creepers, right at my door. TWO goddamn Creepers waiting for me to get close enough. So, I got my sword out, and ran to the block my door was occupying to attack through my door to hit them. MY hindsight rating of this idea: Terrible. Y'know what made it worse? I didn't ran far enough and opened my door. Luckily, the amount I had run was enough to set it off, so they didn't get inside. IT blew up, my door, some of the wood surronding it, some of the dirt in front of it, and part of my window. I quickly repaired it all, making sure to place the door while outside to get it facing the right way. However, I forgot to close the damn door. So, I went back to my fourth room, placed a bit of wood and heard footsteps. I turned around and CREEPER OH FU-BOOM. Yes, a Creeper had managed to make it through my open door, got into my first room, into my kitchen and up the unfinished staircase (There were no stair blocks but the rest of the structure was there) and got right behind me. It blew up part of the floor and the wall behind it. However, it did make the process of destrying the existing ceiling quicker by blowing up a bunch of dirt above it. Luckily, I did not die, but I did have to eat some Mushroom Stew and a Raw Porkchop. Now, my fourth room is finished other than that I haven't turned the dirt into farmland, and there's no water. I also need to get rid of the walls of the basic room structure, seeing as how I don't need them. Oh yeah, and my Iron Shovel and Iron Pickaxe both ran out. I haven't crafted another Iron Shovel yet, though.
TL;DR I fail.
Oh and for those who care, my scale of how bad an idea is:
1 - Good 2 - OK 3 - Nothing wrong with it 4 - Eh... 5 - Bad 6 - Stupid 7 - Terrible 8 - God no, please don't do this 9 - If you do this, I am very disappoint 10 - WHY DID YOU EVEN THINK OF THIS DO YOU NOT HAVE A BRAIN?

Nice house you made there Personly i have a pet hate for gravel as i think it just looks plain ugly but i do love the decks on the outside. Also the doors would look better with blocks on the around the instead of fence. How long did that take to build?
