I read instructions under the following conditions:
1) Game is too complicated and I can't figure it out without instructions.
2) Instructions are really short and there's no reason not to read them.
3) Instructions are made "fun" by a writer with a personality (Cranky's Helpful Hints anybody?)

/sign

And with Mods etc. you have to read the install instructions and tips mostly carefully, when you don't want to bash up your game.

1.3 is out, with the BetterLight and MCRegoin implemented.
I love the beds, finally something to skip the night. Also the redstone delays.

I read the minecraft wiki, and it seems one day beds may behave as the new spawn points, which would be great, since its no fun trying to find a good start island  Meat Boy

The new update just Effed everything up for me :( the mods im using have their own items and now they are not "friends" with the new version. So everytime i open a chest with a modded item inside it, minecraft crashes D:

I play it sometimes, not much.

When I do play, I usually do something like this:

Step 1: Generate until I get a world with a giant cactus hill nearby

Step 2: Chop cactus

Step 3: Chop wood

Step 4: Craft logs into building wood

Step 5: Find island or small location

Step 6: Build house

Step 7: Put cactuses everywhere, and add a hole near the entrance so only lucky mobs or players can do the precision jump required to get in

Step 8: Sleep

Step 9: Go out and get resources so that you can craft more stuff

Repeat step 9 to nine until you have a lot of armor / weapons

Step 11: Go searching for more materials

Step 12: Make bigger deluxe house

???

Success!

... The first time I fully did this, I hiked too far and then I couldn't find my old house anymore.

Well that's your fault then :I
I think there's some utility which you can use to edit them out of the chests. Don't know the name though as the only mod I use is Single Player Commands

I actually like it.  Its not like everywhere or anything, just a nice (very) big vein.  Its pretty similar to the clay blocks in that sense.  I feel like it makes the world a bit more believable since its not 99% cobblestone (well it still is, but a tiny bit more variety is cool).

Nope, it's everywhere. At the bottom of every natural sandpile there's at least one sandstone unless you're close to a beach or something, or there's air underneath. (Use the seed Wikileaks and dig at X:76, Z:200. Press F3 for coordinates)

Oh, well that makes sense though.  All the sand at the bottom should be sturdier since its so compressed.  Props to Notch for thinking logically about where sandstone should exist in the world.

I think that the more naturally occuring materials out there to find, the better. Rarity is a good thing though.
