I recommend using MrMessiahs Minecraft Mods v1.8 (featuring BetterGrass, SimpleMap, SMChat and now BETTERLIGHT), it adds a lot more to the game, especially when playing MP.

Are those screens supposed to be a remake of Donkey Kong 64? Because it definitely looks like it...

I need SMChat because the default one feels lacking on so many levels, and seeing as I mostly play SMP chatting (when not on Mumble for VoIP) is important when coordinating builds.

Hm, is this game really worth 15 pounds? Because I played Creative mode, and although it was kinda interesting, I'm not sure what Survival or whatever it's called is fun. However, if I can make a pixelated version of my cat then I'm a happy guinea pig. Although I still need more conviction than that

Despite my username, I'm not really a Sonic fan. The name just stuck from when I was one. If I want fast action nowadays I just play Meat Boy. Or chase my cat. Sneaky little devil she is.

I don't know how I feel about Minecraft anymore... I feel like the death penalty is too high, and I always end up falling and killing myself somehow... >.<
I wish there was a way to play single player sandbox mode where you can't die, but sadly that's not the case. I had a lot of fun when I did play it tho. ^^

It's popular because it's popular. However, there is still foundation for the popularity. I can't think of another simple game this cheap for computers which allows for such an infinite level of creativity. Everyone plays the game differently, and none play it wrong. I play it by building my house, then mining and exploring. I build multiple buildings and connect them all by minecart system, and just dick around. I don't dedicate endless hours to it, but it's something to do. My housemate on the other hand, she built a house complete with bed, kitchen, etc, and treats the game as more of a Sims thing than anything. She goes out mining during the day, and at night comes home, cooks food regardless of if she needs the health, then goes to "sleep". It's a game that basically says, "Define your own fun."

^ This..... THIS!!!!!!! It's beautifully simple, and popularity is not the same as false hype. I definitely enjoy my time with it, and I'd say it's already better than most AAA titles, even in its Beta state.

Although I still need more conviction than that Creative mode doesn't really mean anything because it leaves out the most important part, which is crafting. The mining is just an excuse for exploration and getting the resources you need to craft things (like dispensers that shoot arrows hidden behind a wall of flaming lava when a pressure plate is triggered - so much fun in multi-player) and adds an element of danger with the mobs.

No you are not. Despite the cute graphics (I really love the graphics of the game), I'm quite bored with it. But the explaination is not that hard to find : I don't like sandbox games. I like great stories and / or great gameplay. But being in a world where I have to set up my objectives myself is for me quite annoying.

Welp, after reading most of the replies on this topic, that does it. I think I'm going to get the game (I like games with a lot of Creative input, so....) Now If you'll excuse me I'm going to wash my dad's car Note: the above statement of washing my dad's car is a figure of speech meaning: I'm going to do shit to get money to buy this game. Rather than washing his car, it's something to do with Flash and Powerpoint or some stupid crap. No washing of cars was done in the making of this post. I sound like a retard. Trolls are welcome to make fun of me. Bladdabla Bladdabla Bladda. And bla too.
