I hadn't played Super Meat Boy for a few months now, but with the Summer Camp Sale going on at Steam I decided to load it up again to try and earn the new Achievement. While I had been able to play the game just fine a few months ago, I've found that now SMB will crash just after I launch the game.

The game will start up, but it will only get to the "Warning: use a controller" advisory screen before it crashes. I just get a generic Windows "SuperMeatBoy.exe has stopped working" message, with no reason for why it stopped working.

I searched around and tried a few suggestions, but none have worked. I tried re-installing the game, verifying the integrity of the cache, and running in windowed and low detail mode. Strangely, I found that if exit Steam, then launch SMB, it will run fine with no crashes or any other problems. If Steam is running at all, the game will crash at the "Use a controller" screen every time.

I'm running the game on Windows 7 64-bit and on a AMD 5850 with the current drivers if that helps. Thanks for any suggestions.
