7 out of 10 endings. OH YEAH!

After the endings, what more is left to be made?

Btw, I see on Steam that this game is going to be released before two games that will be out on 21.

McMillen said that he always does cut scenes last so it may be the only thing left

This is a happy day. Almost as happy as the actual release date.

Oh, I see that it will be between the 15 and the 21. Now, a few more things to talk about:

Glorious Isaac trailer on Steam 1280x720

New interview

Q: How do Bosses play out in the rogue like dungeons? Are you able to see different bosses or variations on them in different playthroughs?

There is even a very small chance that the boss you face will be “special” with mutated stats and drop rare and special items and pickups on top of the normally dropped boss items that are also randomized on top of all this.

The goal of the game is to keep things always fresh, your 1st 10+ play throughs there’s a very good chance you will only have seen half of the bosses in the game or less, more bosses unlock as you progress, more levels unlock, more items unlock and the game becomes more challenging the better and more often you play.

Q: How is The Binding of Issac rating process going? I know you were very pleased by the teen rating of Super Meat Boy but this seems decidedly darker?

Isaac will be an unrated game, steam doesn’t require ESRB for indie games and going through a ratings board will push the game back 2 months.

Isaac is darker then SMB, but not by much. it honestly sounds much worse on paper then it does when you’re playing it.

It’s a true indie release, fuck ratings systems.

I cant wait to shoot stronger tears to defeat stronger enemies!

I'm a tad sad that they made it darker than SMB. I think SMB is already pushing it a little, and it would normally be too niche for me, if it wasn't for the excellent gameplay footage I saw.
However, I'm sure many people did not pick up SMB because of the generally dark and cruel atmosphere it shows in some parts.

Isaac reminds me a lot of some flash games I've played and I'm not sure if it will stay interesting long enough, even with new in-game stuff. Then again, for a Steam game that's just a couple of dollars, you can't really go wrong, even if it's just a few hours of fun.

EDIT: I should note that the trailer doesn't really help the game here, either. It may be appealing to a certain audience, but it just looks like a run-of-the-mill semi-creepy survival game to me.

Edmund has said that endings are done and right now he is working on "special" animations for each character now, so they dont turn into isaac when they die or pick something up

Here's to hoping that it will at least be as good as Dungeons of Dredmor.

4 hours after this, Edmund said that he ended with the animations and both credit rolls. All thats left is the intro that says their names + a few days of testing & polish.

He will make a gameplay blog post tomorrow and the game will have a demo a week after release.

Btw, Im really interested on the game, but... I was never a huge fan of "smash tv" gampelay. I dont know if I will love or hate this game, or kinda "meh".

Almost everything that's been said here has been copy/pasted from Edmund's Twitter. I need some speculation here.

Also, I can't say it enough. SO SOON!

some one should make a new thread for the gameplay video.

I'm sure it will give us all (the three of us) a whole lot to talk about

Despite my username, I'm not really a Sonic fan. The name just stuck from when I was one. If I want fast action nowadays I just play Meat Boy. Or chase my cat. Sneaky little devil she is.

Well, not everyone is on Twitter, and my English is kinda broken so... I cant explain it by myself.

Speculation? Well, I told something on the second page of this thread. This isnt a game where you can't speculate too much.

More stuff:

There will be 41 achievements, 9 of them secret. Maybe he will add more. And 3-4 days to know the exactly release date.

Blog post about Gameplay There's a lot of interesting stuff to read.

I want this game so badly...and I've only known what it was about for like a day. It brought the forums back to life, so I am happy.

Also, I can imagine some possible endings:

Issac actually is corrupt and evil, devil's spawn and all that, this gives Issac a debuff, and the final boss (presumably his mother) some kind of Holy buff. The ability to heal herself, maybe? Anyway, after you beat the final boss, thus committing patricide, Issac goes on a rampage, you are left with an image of fire and destruction, knowing you caused it...

or maybe that's too dark...

It wasn't the voice of god, it was the voice of the devil, and this dungeon has led you to Hell, where you must fight a demon version of Issac's mom, who is shooting fire and things like that. You defeat her and escape from Hell, but now you don't really have a parent...

or (best ending)

You meet your mother without collecting any items, and she realizes that you aren't corrupt after all, you came all this way, through a dungeon of doom, without doing anything corrupting. (Who cares if you killed a bunch of monsters?) She decides to defy God, and let you live. God sends down some giant holy hands or something to kill you, but you hop on your mother's back, getting the ultimate buff as you control the mother now. You defeat the Holy Hands, and live happily together.

So yes, in my mind, each ending would have a different final boss to go with it. Obviously it probably won't happen, given that the endings are already done... or maybe the game got leaked and I know what I'm talking about!

Although, there are also probably five versions of the final boss, since Edmund said there were ten endings. Two endings per boss (one if you win, one if you die) means you get five final bosses.

It feels good to have these forums resurrected. Also, does anyone else love the music for this game? I'm listening to Thine Wrath right now. It reminds me of the music from the first Narnia movie. I wonder if that's deliberate.

I haven't rambled this long on the forums in forever. Good to see this game is coming out soon. Later!

There's some new info and a new blog post that contains minus spoilers. Kinda boring and busy to add more stuff.

Well, the game will last like 1 hour. Hm, what a dissapointment. But I dont complain, cause the game is designed to be replayed and replayed.

Oh, and now there's only 5 days and 20 hours left for the release. Cool.
