I was making this level for about 20 minutes that was only about 30% done, so I wasn't very upset when this happend, but as I was working on it, I saved and when I loaded it, the level was just a bunch of tiles lying around, and nothing like the level i was working on. In fact, it was a different size from the one i was working on. So basically, the level replaced itself with a crappy one that the editor generated on its own.

I'm lucky this bug happend sooner rather than later, however I am not happy that it even happend at all. It worries me about the future of my other levels that I'll have more progress on.

Anyway, has this happend to anyone else?

This happened to me once. My head exploded. And then I tried loading the level again. It was back. (Not only the level, my head [and sanity] too)
Have you tried reloading it?

Yup. Still shows up as the broken level it made itself.

I rebuilt it fairly quickly, so it doesnt bother me much. I'm just worried about my other levels; if I save one of them and the bug happens again, I permanently lose the level from my computer.

Wow, that's a strange one! I'm wondering if your map file maybe got corrupted somehow while it was saving? Any trouble with your HD in the past? Any read/write errors, or delayed writes? I could be off on this, but it seems too odd to just be a bug to me. I wouldn't worry too much, I've made about 100 maps now and the only thing I've had happen is that I've saved over them with a new map... and it's crashed a couple thousand times, but you know ... that ... happens?

I don't have any harddrive problems as far as I know. It's very possible that the file became corrupted or something. But its just kind of weird that I can still open the level, except its just a bunch of tiles placed around and an object (a square box with an 8 on it). Also, when I saved it, the level editor was acting weird. Like, somtimes it doesnt let me delete things that ive selected, and usually I have to either save the level or save it and load it again to be able to delete stuff.

After many bugs and glitches, its become a little nerve racking. Having to constantly save and making sure you have two saves of every level and the editor crashing while all that happens.

Oh god, it happend again. This time it was a little more painful, the loss was greater.

However, this time the level that the editor self-created almost seemed... man made. Creeped me out a little. The level is basically a square with the ceiling missing and two pieces of land. within the sqaure. There are props and at the joints of the props there are saws hidden inside. WTF? It's in the forest tileset, and the tiles for the pieces of land are correctly made and everything (e.g., grass on the top of the pieces of land, and rock under.) I am very surprised if this level was created by the editor wrecklessly throwing props, objects and tiles in random places.

If anyone wants, I can upload the level.

stop saving over the original file, have 2 copies of a level and alternate between them when saving (Making sure it saved correctly after each save).

Maybe try and record a video of this bug happening if possible with Fraps or similar.

Okay, this is REALLY weird. Theres a level that was just uploaded on SMW and it's the exact level that one of my levels glitched and turned into. The weird thing is that I did not upload it... so that means this must have happend to someone else.

Btw, the level is quite odd, but it looks like it was possibly made by edmund?

EDIT: I just uploaded my messed up level on the portal. It's called "wtf..."

Also, could everyone see if they have a level called "1" in the editor and load it?

it actually only happend once on my computer, and another time on one of my others.

EDIT: Did you read my last reply? I was talking about how it seems to have happend to another person, not to me.

EDIT 2: Okay, I just realised what could have been the cause of the losing of my last level to be replaced.

Apparently, (or actually, I'm not sure) there is a level named 1, and another named 2, both of them are somehow in the gamedata or something, so you cant save over them in the editor. So, what really happend was that I was making a level that I saved as "1", then, the editor crashed, and when I loaded the save again, it was the level thats in the gamedata. (the levels in the game cannot be saved over, so im guessing that also applys to the two levels "1" and "2".

So could everyone check and try to load levels named "1" and "2", and if theres a level when you load those names, that answers my question for the last level that I thought was "replaced."

However, even if this is answered and other people have these levels, it does still not anwer what happend with another level that was actually replaced by the editor. I made a level I saved as "demon", can anyone you guys also see if you have a level when you load that name in the editor?
