I'm having an issue when running SMB.

The game does not detect the controller that I've connected. It's a Logitech Chillstream controller and should be detected as a standard Xbox 360 pad. Indeed, I've never had an issue with any game before.

I've googled around, checked through a few forums and looked over the SMB wiki. I can't find any trace of anyone experiencing this issue. Some people seemed to have issues with non xbox 360 controllers, though this has been resolved?

I feel that because of this, I'm just missing something obvious. I'm running SMB on Steam running on Windows 7 x64. Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this problem?

As an aside, not realising that foetus could be spelled fetus made registering for this forum kind of difficult.

Okay, this is what you do.
There are many programs that emulate keyboard from controller keys (without delay)
One of them is made by Logitech, I own it too. It's called Gamepad Profiler or something, look at their website for support and download. There's also Xpadder which works for all controllers I think.
Basically you just see an image of a controller, and then you say that Button A = Spacebar, Button B = Shift, etc.

Seems bizarre that I'd have to resort to a third party application for controller support when the game claims to support the controller natively and tells me off for not using one at launch.

Is that really my only option here?

Many games need a 3d party program (or in this case, Logitech's own program) to support older and/or more obscure controllers. It's not that uncommon.

I can understand needing a support for older controllers, though Windows registers the Chillstream as a standard Xbox 360 controller. It's plugged and played with literally every other game I own. I figured it would have been more a problem with SMB running on x64 Windows than anything else.

I can't seem to find the Logitech application you suggested. The support page for my controller just says that there is no software required.
