You'll need two things The 360 Controller driver and some software to configure it with such as Enjoy.

Install the driver, set up your keypad layout in Enjoy and go have some fun!

I installed the driver. On enjoy, how do I know which gamepad button I am configuring?

Got it working!

For future reference to everyone who sees this in the future:
in Enjoy, Button 17 is A, Axis 6 High is left trigger. Keep Enjoy open and press Start to run the controls during super meat boy.

Thanks dude.

Anyone using a gamepad successfully on Mac OS X Lion? (10.7.x)

I know there's a patch coming soon (probably as soon as Steam is done with Thanks vacation) and if that fixes it for me, I'll definitely update this post.

If you're working ok, what are you using? And did you do anything special to make it work?

I have a Logitech Dual Action Game Pad USB, and a MadCatz Xbox 360 Game Pad.

The Logitech does work, although SMB doesn't recognize the triggers or bumpers, and I realized that to have good control, I need to be able to use my right finger to toggle run on/off, instead of using my right thumb to hit both the run and jump buttons at once, if I want a fast jump.

The MadCatz isn't recognized at all by SMB, I tried both http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24762/xbox-360-controller-driver and http://abstractable.net/enjoy/. Enjoy doesn't see the Madcatz, unfortunately, and the System Pref installed doesn't either.

I also tried Enjoy to get the triggers to work on the Logitech, no go.

What's working for you on Mac OS X Lion?
thanks

OSX Snow Leopard.

I have the tattieboggle driver installed and I was running Enjoy (as proposed elsewhere on the forum).

I cannot use a 360 controller with the game because the game automatically tries to interpret the controller input. It overrides using Enjoy and the tattieboggle driver.

The controller as a result only accepts the left analog for movement and the down button on the d-pad for jump. I've no idea what it's mapped the run button to.

This behaviour is inconsistent as well, it stopped doing this behaviour for one playthrough where I was able to map the keyboard controls to my desired 360 controls. Then when I restarted the app it went back to the strange control usage. For such a challenging game this is unacceptable.

The keyboard layout is also unacceptable. On a mac the shift key is 2 inches away from the space bar. I am also left handed.

Solution:

Give the option to turn off automatic controller support or allow user-defined keys.
