Since 90% of us left here and speedrunners thought I'd share some of my most annoying levels.

My top 7 would be (these pertain to Meat Boy in my situation)

1) 7-2x Flipside - Reason is that it's absolutely infuriating to make 10 perfect jumps and die, repeat that over 50 tries, then get to the top level and die again another 50 tries, only to die 50 more tries trying to get back there...  Ugh, level sucks bad to speedrun.

2) 5-3x Spank - I really hate the somewhat inconsistent pulse physics, and this level in order to do properly you must execute them perfectly and get a bit lucky on top of that.  I still haven't finished the optimal route I despise this so much.

3) 5-9x Swine - Random zombies, enough said, especially the two little bastards at the end.

4) 5-13 The Lamb - In order to get the optimal path, you must be perfect no questions asked.

5) 4-4 Hex - Ridiculous amount of practice and patience to hit below 7 secs, still stuck at a 6.81 score on 360.  And dread doing it again and better on PC, same for the Dark World version.

6) 5-19x Magog - Hate this fucking level sometimes, another one I dread having to finish.

7) 4-7 Rickets - The optimal path is a huge pain in the balls requiring two pixel perfect jumps, one being a wall jump.  Just did this on 360 today and it took me about a straight 45 mins of failure.

So what's your most annoying or hated level to speedun in this game?

1)5-6X: Ripcord- The top part is a pain in the ass when you have to wait for the three walls to disappear, then shoot through it lightning fast.

2)7-1: Pink Noise - I can't jump through the saws at the beginning at a fast pace, they're to close together.

3)7-10: Hatch - If I try to do it faster, it always bites me.

4)7-10X: Salt Shaker - I don't even know how to beat this level legitimately.

1) 7-12x Pink: The hard route.

2) 3-2x Salt + Wound (with Naija): Seriously, don't try this. It's hard enough to even complete this level with her, let alone speedrun it. Most of the trickiness comes from the fact that the very first two dashes have to be turnaround superdashes, and have to be arced perfect enough to not die and land where you need to.

3) 6-4x Maze of Ith: Too much precise timing involved to be enjoyable.

4) 7-7x Going Up: Going up at intense speeds and having to just barely maneuver around a saw to wall jump off a one and a half block space.. not fun.

Btw Jintek, thought I'd try my hand at 5-13 with Meat Boy, surprisingly not that bad: http://youtu.be/2a95z9NEER0

Very impressive sir, you are more skilled than I.

Edit:  I see where you did better now, your last wall jump was a few frames faster than mine.  I'll need to rectify that.

And I agree on 6-4x, very annoying level to speedrun.  But I nearly caught your score there, if only I hadn't slightly missed bandage girl at the end!

After months of not even making an attempt to improve this level, I had to go back in and remind myself why I didn't like it. To my astonishment, 6-4x grants more leniency with passing/jumping over the saws than I had originally remembered.

First improvement was only by .03, then I kept going until I got a time I was happy with; I started from 22.15 > 22.12 > 22.00 > 21.88 > 21.83
Had to deal with fraps giving me prolonged frame rate drops at times (and so many good runs were ruined because of this), but I got my final run captured, with a rather clean replay:  http://youtu.be/FkViyqsCMZ0

Damn, you beat Telesniper on 6-4x!!!!   Awesome run.  I actually used Kaede's template for 6-4x when I did this, so I'll attempt to give this method a try.  My list is growing. :P

Pretty awesome people are still finding new paths and optimizations for this, roommate may have just found a ridiculous new strat on 5-13x.

Anyway, are you using a keyboard?

Keyboard? Yep! I thought that was pretty apparent in my replays, judging by the symbols.

The main thing about 6-4x is at the end, at first you want to slightly hesitate and not jump.. or you'll want to wait for the saw to give you room to wall jump (like Kaede did), which is unnecessary since wall jumping off the only the right side is fine.

As far as new strats or requests, if you have anything you want me to try out, I'm all ears.

Yeah I noticed the symbols in your replys, just wasn't sure if you were using Joy2Key like I do when using my CCPro or Saturn USB pad, which will just show the keyboard symbols.

As for the possible new strat, my roommate apparently just did 5-13x the same route you would do 5-13.  Said you need to let off the run button right before touching the 2nd to last disappearing block so you can start the wall jumps further down, then just barely catch the last block before it disappears.

I'll see if he wants to upload the replay (he's running the Linux ver), but he also said there may have been a bit of lag so it may not be repeatable.  I don't know, if it is possible it's pretty borderline impossible.

Edit:  Since your really good with a keyboard, you should totally try out a Hitbox (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGU1d-cmtuQ) with this game.  Playing it with a arcade stick is pretty cool, but I'd think for a keyboard player this would be great.

Oh wow, I literally nailed the 5-13 route in 5-13x just a minute ago. (just finished uploading) ThoughI was holding run the entire time.

And that Hit Box thing is crazy-looking, I'd definitely want to at least try it out.

Haha, sweet I guess he was onto something.  I'm definitely going to try and nail this route too, from all of my practice on 5-13 this seems it would be easier than going the slower way and clearing the platform bandage girl sits on perfectly.

Most of this run rests on how early you wall jump off the first vertical wall. If you're too late, you'll never catch the last one in time. (You're aware of this already.)

I found that I really like using Meat Boy recently, it's so much easier for me than Naija. :P And on topic of annoying speedruns, 5-7 with Naija was definitely one of the toughest I have ever done. Took me a day or two of playing until I eventually got it.

Edit: What I think I'll do is to simply finish runs that haven't been done for the Meat Boy IL tables. There shouldn't be much left, but this way we'd have something official to go by.

True, but then again, who would ever try those again?

For me none of the Skyscraper levels by themselves are particularly difficult, just doing them first time for the bandages can be a test, early in your career.  But there's like one jump in the whole three level set that is "difficult" in a speedrun situation.

Kid 2 is another story entirely, but I'd opt for Kid 3 to be a more difficult perfect run.  The jumps over the saws seem to be more demanding skill-wise AND timing wise, as opposed to Kid 2 that's just timing based difficulty.  Even ignoring the three elevators isn't that hard if you're accustomed to the Kid's controls.
