If you're experiencing
-clipping through walls
-dying on platforms
-squishing or ducking meat boy
-inability to complete some levels and bosses due to timed objects

these are ALL caused by lag, you'll need to lower the detail of your game in order to fix them. here are the detail options, here is how!

Go to Library, then Right Click on Super Meat Boy and go to Properties

Click on Set Launch Options

Fill in the options starting with dashes and separated by spaces in the text field

-highdetail Highest detail
-meddetail Medium detail
-lowdetail Lowest detail
-ultralowdetail super horribly low detail

enjoy!

Also, according to a support email Tommy Refenes sent me, turning on vsyncing (in driver software, not in-game) can help. If that doesn't fix the problem "random twitching while vsynced has something to do with a program halting the computer every so often."

He specifically suggested turning off f.lux, but I found Digsby also causes the bug. Turning off every unnecessary program is the easiest way to test whether or not a program is the cause.

I have a question to this. Can you do this with other Steam games as well? I'd like to force games into 1280x720 so I can have fraps record in widescreen.

5 ways to speed up your computer.

For those pesky cases where "-ultralowdetail -windowed" doesn't cut the mustard.

Game Booster is a program that will speed up windows using computers by selecting services/processes you don't need and letting you turn them all off/on with one switch:

Also, if you're using windows 7/windows vista turn off the fancy transparent aero theme stuff

I have these problems and they're definitely NOT caused by lag, they seem to be caused by crossfire cards.

My system specs are as follows. i5 750@ 4.0ghz, 2xHD5850's, 4gb of ram, vertex SSD Way way over spec for what SMB needs. I've tried the lower resolutions, they don't make any difference.

I have v-sync enabled in the catalyst control panel, FRAPS displays a steady 60fps, but unless I disable the crossfire cards, I have all of these problems. With crossfire disabled, the game runs perfectly, but Its quite annoying having to disable a graphics card every time I want to play.

It'd be great if you guys could have a look into SMB performance with crossfire (and SLI for that matter) as I'm sure there are some problems caused by multiple gpu's.

I was really hoping that this would be the answer to my prayers. Nope. Super Meat Boy is still laggy and buggy for me. :(

Meat Boy Hey guys, Not sure if i should reply here, but feel free to move to the appropriate forum.

I just created an account because i found somewhat of a solution for those having problems with crossfire setups. I have 2x6850HD and i was having some glitch where the landing animation was playing while the character was idle; Also the game was kinda running like 2 times faster or something like that.

Disabling Crossfire fixes it, but if you don't want to go and disable it every single time you want to play the game, just create a crossfire profile for the game disabling and disable the crossfire on it.

After that every time you run the game the crossfire will be disable allowing you to play normally. This worked for me perfectly nice, but there's not much info about it out there, so i just wanted to share that little piece of knowledge.

Hope this fixes your issues! Meat Boy
EDIT: After a little more digging, this is the issue i was running into with crossfire but it didn't end at anytime; only when crossfire was disabled.
