Hello.

I registerd an account here to ask just one question:
Is Steam really necessary for playing Super Meat Boy?

I have read this thread: http://supermeatboy.com/forum/index.php/topic,1820.0.html
Sr. Domi wrote, that it's possible to run Super Meat Boy without starting Steam. I just have a bad feeling that Steam screws up the gamefiles like it did with Skyrim. I have read that originally you could start the TESV.exe and Steam won't start, but Steam modifies the file when installing it, so it starts Steam anyways.
It would be nice if someone could test that.

It's OK for me if steam does not start when I want to play Super Meat Boy. But it would be more convenient if I didn't even have to install it with Steam.

And please let's don't get into a discussion about why I don't want Steam to run.
I can tell you, that most of the time I can't play games offline. But I think anything further will result in a flamewar. And I really don't want to start one with my first post in the forum.

Edit:
I just want to mention:
I have watched some Let's Plays of Super Meat Boy.
It's an awesome game, and I'd really like to support the developers.
So I don't want to search for a crack or something. I think that's not OK.

I don't think you really need steam...
I think you just have to have the game
