So I got the Binding of Isaac soundtrack and of course the SMB one, and I was wondering... what exactly can we do with those mp3 files?

I plan on creating a Source Filmmaker animation for the 2013/2014 Saxxy Awards [TF2 players will know what I mean] and was curious if I was allowed to use some of the soundtrack in the video. And if so, would I be allowed to monetize said video. I sent an email to the author of the music but so far I've still not received a reply.

So I thought I'd ask the forums

Copyrighted music isn't as big of a deal with game publishers as it is with record labels, not to mention that Team Meat is completely independent (and so is Danny B.). As long as you credit him properly in the video description, I'm sure he'd be okay with it.

However, if you want to enter it in the Saxxy Awards, you're going to need the legal right to use the soundtrack, which can be as simple as getting his explicit permission. Valve still has to cover their asses.

So it would be Danny's permission I would have to seek since he still owns the rights to the songs? I guess I'll just try email again or something.
