Fuck Valve.

I'm suprised that you care so much for the upcoming Half-Life game. It, along with so many others made by this cooperate, art-form-raping monster, are just sequels that are made to get money rather than invoke the deep emotions of such games as shadow of colossus. Personally, I believe that valve singlehandedly is ruining the industry for intellectuals such as myself who understand gaming as an art-form (You have no right to pass judgement because I have a different opinion).

+1 for making a near-perfect mockery of me.  However, you missed the point by a tiny mark due to the fact that Ep 3 is not so much an expansion pack sequel as much as a book-end, which needs to come out in order to fill up all the plot holes which were left back in Ep 2.  Pokemon on the other hand...

You still shouldn't care about episode 3.  As we all know, you believe that Valve is a corporation that is to be fucked.  That means that no matter how good of a game they may make in any point in time, you as a pretentious, artsy, self-righteous gamer will simply refuse to play by principal.  You said it yourself in on the IRC: "as good as Chrono Trigger is, I refuse to like it because its made by Square".  Also "I go out of my way to pirate [some company that I don't remember who is owned by square]'s games, part of their profits go to Square and I couldn't live with giving them money"

In conclusion, I have decided for you that you can no longer look forward to Half Life Episode 3, as it is against your previously stated moral code, unless you plan on pirating it 

Also Pokemon > Shadow of the Colossus.

There's a differentiation between Square Enix and Valve.  Valve need to get fucked because of their scheduling in terms of their games being made.  Square Enix need to get fucked for...well...everything Square Enix does.  The difference between the two companies is one product ends out being quality in the end, while the other ends up not only making half-ass products, but making the gaming world a worse place in the process.


Glad I could clear my opinions up for you and help you derail another thread!  I mean, QQing over the defense of a completely rehashed series and calling it better than an artistic masterpiece doesn't make you immature at all.

EDIT: I never said I refused to like Chrono Trigger.  In fact, I thought it was quite a good game.  Also, the company you're thinking about is Eidos.

Fact: Shadow of the Colossus has a great story, beautiful visuals, and is artistic gold.  Also its controls suck and its buggy as hell.

Fact: Pokemon is nothing special story wise, looks mediocre, and does nothing to further the artistic medium of gaming.  Also it is fun, does a great job of adding new content from game to game, and is addicting as hell.

Fact: Typos happen, they aren't really worth pointing out.

Fact: I could make pages worth of solid arguments clearly explaining why Pokemon is better as a videogame than SotC, but as you said its best to not derail the thread (even if it subject had already changed quite a while ago).
