I couldn't really get into it.  For a game like advanced wars I need story to drive me, and I just didn't think the plot was all that good at all.

I like this series, but the two first isnt very good for me. The third is awesome, and the fourth... well, it need some more features.

Loved AW1, AW2 and Dual Strike, but I couldn't really get into the newer others. They felt different imo. I might try it again later.

There is only one more

I played the TWO DS ones, before my DS broke. I think the one where it's all serious and then then the dual strike or whatever one.

Days of Ruin admittedly made me cry like a baby sometimes.

Brenners death is one of the most emotional moments i've ever experienced in a game. And knowing that greyfield was responsible for it made me want to crush him and waylons asses in the rest of the game until caulder hit the field.

I may try out Days of Ruin.  Like I said, I like the gameplay of Advance Wars but couldn't get into the story.  Maybe the grittier less anime style will capture me better.

I haven't played in a while, I doubt I'll play again.

Brenner dies? Who's greyfield? (I think I got up to a little after that part where there's a child or whatever throwing her 'toys', where you learn how to combat supertanks, or something like that.)
Do those strange-ass parasitic flowers hold any serious value?

...how did I miss this topic.

Being the insane AW nut I am.

Insani: You wouldn't have encountered Greyfield by that point.

And those strange arse flowers are a major plot...thingie for the middle of the campaign.

But yeah, I love the AW games. Although I spend more time pulling them to pieces than actually playing the games proper

I always thought Advance Wars 2 was the most balanced of the games.  Dual Strike had some broken CO team compositions (Sami/Eagle comes immediately to mind, but I know there are others that are worse), and in DoR Isabella and Tabitha were stupid OP, and that's not even counting Caulder.
AW2 is pretty badly balanced. Dual strike had ridiculous amounts of stupidity in tags but if you play single COs it works surprisingly well. Days of Ruin is easily the best balanced game in the series - Play a standard map (Bases & Airports) and the only non-viable COs are really Tasha, Penny and Greyfield. AW1 had lolmax. Oh god max.

And hey, IS did ban Caulder themselves.

I wish the 3DS would come out so I can buy a DS on the cheap!

Desmume is not very good, compared to an actual DS when it comes to Advance Wars games.

I played the first one.
A bit.
My older brother was the Advance Wars fan, really.

However, has anyone here played Batallion Wars? It's a Third Person Shooter Advance Wars spinoff.
It's basically Advance Wars, but in real time and you have to shoot your enemies.
Not sure if it's better or not than Advance Wars games since, well, I haven't played much of the Advanced Wars series

Sadly much worse.

Finally! Others! Still, AW is better, but the controls make the game shit. Fucking Flame troops will pwn yours, but when you use one yourself, the AI grows a pair and shoots you with unfair accuracy. Fine game imo
